²² but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother out of control shall be in danger of the judgment, and whosoever shall insult his brother shall be in danger of the council, but whosoever shall say, Thou art impious, shall be in danger of hell.

⁵ but he did not look upon Cain and his present. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. ⁶ ¶ Then the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

⁴ And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him.

⁸ And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? Or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.

¹¹ For the poor shall never cease out of the land; therefore, I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor and to thy needy, in thy land.

¹⁸ I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And it shall come to pass that whoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

²⁷ And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that overcomes him. ²⁸ And Eliab, his eldest brother, heard when he spoke unto the men, and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why didst thou come down here? And with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride and the malice of thy heart, for thou art come down that thou might see the battle.

⁸ And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him, and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what can he have more but the kingdom? ⁹ And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

³⁰ Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do I not know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion and unto the confusion of thy mother’s shame? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the land, thou shalt not be established nor thy kingdom. Therefore, now send and bring him unto me, for he shall surely die. ³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father and said unto him, Why shall he be slain? What has he done? ³³ And Saul cast a spear at him to smite him whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

¹² And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. ¹³ And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread and a sword and hast enquired of God for him that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? ¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all thy slaves as David, the king’s son-in-law, who goes at thy bidding and is honourable in thy house? ¹⁵ Did I begin to enquire of God for him today? Be it far from me; let not the king impute any thing unto his slave nor to all the house of my father, for thy slave knew nothing of all this, less or more. ¹⁶ And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou and all thy father’s house. ¹⁷ Then the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn and slay the priests of the LORD because their hand also is with David and because they knew when he fled and did not show it to me. But the slaves of the king would not put forth their hands to fall upon the priests of the LORD. ¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, Turn thou and fall upon the priests. And Doeg, the Edomite, turned and he fell upon the priests and slew on that day eighty-five men that wore a linen ephod. ¹⁹ And Nob, the city of the priests, he smote with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings and oxen and asses and sheep with the edge of the sword. ²⁰ ¶ And one of the sons of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David. ²¹ And Abiathar gave David the news that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests. ²² And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day when Doeg, the Edomite, was there that he would surely tell Saul. I have given cause before Saul against all the persons of thy father’s house. ²³ Abide thou with me; do not fear, for he that seeks my life seeks thy life; it is good that thou shalt be kept with me.

²⁰ ¶ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal, the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his slaves as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!

⁷ And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial;

⁴ And Ahab came into his house, sad and angry, because of the word which Naboth of Jezreel had spoken to him, for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down upon his bed and turned away his face and would eat no bread.

¹⁰ Then Asa was wroth with the seer and put him in the prison house, for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa killed some of the people at the same time.

⁸ And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren, the Jews who had been sold unto the Gentiles; and will ye even sell your brethren? And shall they be sold unto us? Then they remained silent, for they had nothing to answer.

⁵ And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not kneel or worship before him, then Haman was filled with wrath. ⁶ And he thought it a small matter to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for now they had declared unto him the people of Mordecai; therefore, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, the people of Mordecai.

⁴ if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me, then let my persecutor escape without retribution.

A Psalm of David. ¶ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is no one that does good.

³ Gimel Yea, none that wait on thee shall be ashamed; those which rebel without cause shall be ashamed.

¹⁹ Let not those that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those that hate me wink with the eye without a cause.

⁸ He Cease from anger and forsake wrath: let not thy wrath in any wise cause you to become evil.

¹⁰ For he sees that all the wise men die, likewise the fool and the ignorant perish and leave their wealth to others.

⁴ Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; those that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty; then I restored that which I did not take away.

⁶ A carnal man does not know, neither does a fool understand this:

³ They compassed me about with words of hatred and fought against me without a cause.

¹⁶ ¶ The wise man fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is confident.

⁶ ¶ A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes.

¹¹ As the partridge that steals that which she did not hatch, is he that gets riches and not with righteousness; in the midst of his days he shall leave them, and at his end shall be a fool.

²³ Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother has something against thee; ²⁴ leave thy gift there before the altar, and go; first restore friendship with thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

²⁸ but I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. ²⁹ Therefore if thy right eye should bring thee occasion to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. ³⁰ And if thy right hand should bring thee occasion to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

³⁴ but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is God’s throne,

⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you;

¹⁷ But keep yourselves from men, for they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

²⁸ And fear not those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

¹⁸ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a devil. ¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her children.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow does not cast out demons but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

⁵ While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

⁸ Therefore if thy hand or thy foot cause thee to fall, cut them off and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into eternal fire. ⁹ And if thine eye causes thee to fall, pluck it out and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

²¹ ¶ Then Peter came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? until seven times?

³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you unless from your hearts ye forgive every one his brother their trespasses.

¹⁵ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves.

³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of hell?

⁴¹ Then he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁵⁹ Now the princes of the priests and the elders and all the council sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

⁴³ And if thy hand causes thee to fall, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life maimed than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that can never be quenched, ⁴⁴ where their worm does not die, and the fire is never quenched. ⁴⁵ And if thy foot causes thee to fall, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter halt into life than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that can never be quenched, ⁴⁶ where their worm does not die, and the fire is never quenched. ⁴⁷ And if thine eye causes thee to fall, pluck it out; it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than having two eyes to be cast into hell, ⁴⁸ where their worm does not die, and the fire is never quenched.

⁵⁵ And the princes of the priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death and found none.

¹ ¶ And straightway in the morning the princes of the priests having held a consultation with the elders and with the scribes and with the whole council, took Jesus away bound and delivered him to Pilate.

⁵ But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who, after being killed, has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

²³ and in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

²⁰ The people answered and said, Thou hast a demon; who goes about to kill thee?

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said unto him, Do we not say well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a demon?

⁴⁷ Then the high priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, What shall we do? for this man does many signs.

²⁵ But this comes to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

²⁰ who has sent Jesus Christ, who before was preached unto you, ²¹ whom it is certainly necessary that the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the age began. ²² For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things doing whatever he shall say unto you. ²³ And it shall come to pass that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council, and the prince of the priests asked them,

³⁷ This is that Moses, who said unto the sons of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me; him shall ye hear.

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans and of the Stoics encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? others, He seems to be a setter forth of new gods, because he preached unto them Jesus and the resurrection.

¹⁰ loving one another with brotherly love, with honour preferring one another;

⁶ But brother goes to judgment against brother, and that before the unbelievers.

¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁶ Be ye angry and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath, ²⁷ neither give place to the devil.

³¹ Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be taken away from you, with all malice, ³² and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God has forgiven you in Christ.

⁶ that no one oppress and defraud his brother in any matter because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

² That they speak evil of no one, that they not be contentious, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.

⁹ and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal saving health unto all those that hearken unto him,

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,

²⁰ But, O vain man, dost thou desire to know that faith without works is dead?

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

²³ who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;

⁹ not rendering evil for evil or curse for curse, but to the contrary, blessing, knowing that ye are called, that ye should possess a blessing by inheritance.

⁹ He that says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

¹⁰ In this the sons of God are manifest, and the sons of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness and that loves not his brother is not of God.

¹⁴ ¶ We know that we are passed from death unto life, in that we love the brethren. He that does not love his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

²⁰ If anyone says, I love God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? ²¹ And we have this commandment from him, That he who loves God loves his brother also.

¹⁶ If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask God, and he shall give him life that is, unto those that do not sin unto death. There is sin unto death, for which I do not say that you should pray.

⁹ Yet when Michael, the archangel, contended with the devil, disputing over the body of Moses, he dared not bring against him a curse of judgment, but said, The Lord reprehend thee.

¹⁴ And Hades and death were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
