¹² And being accused by the princes of the priests and the elders, he answered nothing.

¹³ But I, as a deaf man, that heard not, and as a dumb man that did not open his mouth. ¹⁴ Thus I was as a man that does not hear, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth.

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

¹⁴ And he did not answer him even a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

³ And the princes of the priests accused him of many things. ⁴ And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they accuse thee of. ⁵ But Jesus yet answered nothing, so that Pilate marvelled.

⁹ and went again into the judgment hall and said unto Jesus, Where art thou from? But Jesus gave him no answer. ¹⁰ Then Pilate said unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee {Gr. stauroo – hang thee on a stake} and have power to release thee? ¹¹ Jesus answered, Thou could have no power at all against me, unless it were given thee from above; therefore he that delivered me unto thee has the greater sin.

³² The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth;

²³ who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;
