³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them, ² that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took for themselves wives of all whom they chose. ³ ¶ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for certainly he is flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years. ⁴ ¶ There were giants in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore sons to them, the same became mighty men who were of old, men of renown. ⁵ And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. ⁶ ¶ And the LORD repented of having made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. ⁷ And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast and the animals and the fowls of the air; for I repent of having made them.

⁶ And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. ⁷ And Noah went in and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him into the ark because of the waters of the flood. ⁸ Of clean animals and of animals that are not clean and of fowls and of every thing that moves upon the earth, ⁹ there went in two by two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. ¹⁰ And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. ¹¹ ¶ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened. ¹² And there was rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ ¶ In that same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered into the ark, ¹⁴ they and every animal after its kind and all the beasts after their kind and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth after its kind and every fowl after its kind, every bird, every thing with wings. ¹⁵ And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two by two of all flesh in which is the spirit of life. ¹⁶ And those that went in went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him, and the LORD shut him in. ¹⁷ ¶ And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters multiplied and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed and multiplied greatly upon the earth, and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high mountains that were under all the heavens were covered. ²⁰ Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered. ²¹ ¶ And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl and of beasts and of animals and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth and every man; ²² all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life of all that was in the dry land died. ²³ And every substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man and cattle and the animals and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth, and only Noah remained alive and those that were with him in the ark.

¹⁵ ¶ Dost thou desire to keep the old way which wicked men have trodden? ¹⁶ Who were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood. ¹⁷ Who said unto God, Depart from us; and what can the Almighty do unto us?

³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

⁷ By faith Noah, having received revelation of things not seen as yet, with great care prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and was made heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

²⁰ which in the time past were disobedient, when once the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being made ready, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. ²¹ ¶ Unto the figure of which the baptism that does now correspond saves us (not taking away the uncleanness of the flesh, but giving testimony of a good conscience before God) by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ,

⁵ and if he did not forgive the old world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven other persons, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

⁶ by which the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished;
