²⁷ Then Peter answered and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

⁹ who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen them; neither did he acknowledge his brethren nor know his own children; therefore, they shall keep thy word and guard thy covenant.

²⁰ And they straightway left their nets and followed him. ²¹ And going on from there, he saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed him.

⁹ ¶ And as Jesus passed forth from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁰ But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more but they likewise received each one a denarius. ¹¹ And when they had received it, they murmured against the husband of the house, ¹² saying, These last have worked but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us who have borne the burden and heat of the day.

¹⁷ And Jesus said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ¹⁸ And straightway they forsook their nets and followed him. ¹⁹ And when he had gone a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. ²⁰ And straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went after him.

²⁷ ¶ And after these things he went forth and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said unto him, Follow me. ²⁸ And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

³³ So likewise, any one of you that does not forsake all that he has cannot be my disciple.

²⁹ And he, answering, said to his father, Behold, these many years I have served thee, neither at any time have I transgressed thy commandment; and yet thou never gavest me a kid that I might make merry with my friends.

²⁸ Then Peter said, Behold, we have left all and followed thee.

²⁹ that no flesh should glory in his presence.

⁷ ¶ For who makes thee to judge? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, what dost thou glory of, as if thou hadst not received it?

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ
