1 ¶ And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, his brother, and brought them apart up into a high mountain 2 and [he] was transfigured before them, and his face shined as the sun, and his raiment was as white as the light. 3 And, behold, Moses and Elijah appeared unto them talking with him. 4 Then Peter answered and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to remain here; if thou desire, let us make three tabernacles here: one for thee and one for Moses and one for Elijah. 5 While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and feared greatly. 7 Then Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead. 10 Then his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first? 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall come first and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatever they pleased. Likewise the Son of man shall also suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spoke unto them of John the Baptist. 14 ¶ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic and suffers miserably; for many times he has fallen into the fire and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O unfaithful and crooked generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him here to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus apart and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unfaithfulness; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this lineage of demons does not go out but by prayer and fasting. 22 ¶ And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men; 23 and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. 24 ¶ And when they were come to Capernaum, those that received the two drachmas came to Peter and said, Does not your master pay the two drachmas? 25 He said, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus spoke unto him first, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own sons or of strangers? 26 Peter said unto him, Of strangers. Jesus said unto him, Then the sons are free. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea and cast a hook and take up the first fish that comes up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a stater, a coin worth four drachmas; take that, and give it unto them for me and thee.

And as he came out, he would speak unto the sons of Israel that which he was commanded. 35 And the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses that the skin of Moses’ face shone, and Moses would put the veil upon his face again until he would go in to speak with him.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. 13 ¶ And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn; 14 and a messenger came unto Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them; 15 and the Sabeans {Heb. those of Sheba} fell upon them and took them away; they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. 16 While he was yet speaking, another came who said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven and has burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. 17 While he was yet speaking, another came and said, The Chaldeans made three bands and fell upon the camels and have carried them away and have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. 18 While he was yet speaking, there another came and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn; 19 and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell thee.

3 He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down. 5 But he was wounded for our rebellions; he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes healing was provided for us. 6 All we like sheep have become lost; we have turned each one to his own way; and the LORD transposed in him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth.

Isaiah 53:7

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall count his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the rebellion of my people he was smitten. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and his death with the rich; even though he had never done evil, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 ¶ With all this the LORD chose to bruise him; subjecting him to grief. When he shall have offered his soul for atonement, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall be prospered in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied. And by his knowledge shall my righteous slave justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil unto the strong because he has poured out his soul unto death, and he was numbered with the rebellious, having born the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

32 There is another that bears witness of me, and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true. 33 Ye sent unto John, and he bore witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive not testimony from man, but I say these things that ye might be saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining light, and ye were willing to rejoice for one hour in his light. 36 But I have greater testimony than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father himself, who has sent me, has borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time nor seen his appearance.

John 5:45-47

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye do not believe his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Then there came a voice from the heaven, saying, I have clarified it and will clarify it again. 29 The people, therefore, that were present and heard it, said that it thundered; others said, An angel spoke to him. 30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

John 14:8-9

8 Philip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it will suffice us. 9 Jesus said unto him, Have I been such a long time with you, and yet thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

John 15:9-10

9 ¶ As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

John 16:6

6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart.

John 16:20-22

20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21 The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. 22 And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

Acts 2:23-31

23 him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain, 24 whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible for him to be held by it. 25 For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved, 26 therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover even my flesh shall rest in hope 27 because thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne; 31 he, seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption.

Acts 3:14-15

14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just and desired a murderer to be granted unto you 15 and killed the Author of life, whom God has raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And in the faith of his name, unto this man whom ye see and know, has confirmed his name; and the faith which is by him has given this man this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Acts 3:21

21 whom it is certainly necessary that the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the age began. 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things doing whatever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.

And the Lord said, I AM Jesus whom thou dost persecute; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behooves thee to do.

Acts 13:2-3

But, behold, there comes one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose. 26 Men and brethren, sons of the lineage of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, unto you is this word of saving health sent. 27 For those that dwell at Jerusalem and their princes, because they knew him not nor yet the voices of the prophets who are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. 28 And without finding cause of death in him, yet they asked Pilate that he should be slain.

Acts 19:15-15

1 Corinthians 9:19-22

19 ¶ Therefore, though I am free regarding everyone, yet I have made myself slave unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to those that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those that are under the law; 21 to those that are without law, as without law (being not without law of God, but under the law of Christ), that I might gain those that are without law. 22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to everyone, that I might by all means save some.

2 Corinthians 3:7-11

7 But if the ministry of death in the letter engraved in stones was glorious, so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance which glory was to fade away, 8 How shall not the ministry of the Spirit be for greater glory? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, much more shall the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. 10 For even that which was so glorious had no glory in this respect, in comparison with the glory that excels. 11 For if that which fades away was glorious, much more shall that which remains be glorious.

Hebrews 2:1-3

1 ¶ Therefore, it is necessary that we with more diligence keep the things which we have heard, so that we do not fall. 2 For if the word spoken by the ministry of angels was steadfast and every rebellion and disobedience received a just recompense of reward, 3 how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him,

Hebrews 2:7-8

7 Thou didst make him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour and didst set him over the works of thy hands. 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. Hebrews 3:1-6

1 ¶ Therefore, brethren, saints, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to him that appointed him over all his house, as also Moses was faithful. 3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built the house has more honour than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but he that created all things is God. 5 And Moses verily was faithful over all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after, 6 but Christ as a son over his own house, which house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the glorious hope firmly until the end.

Hebrews 3:16-19

16 For some of those that came out of Egypt with Moses, when they had heard, did provoke; howbeit not all. 17 But with whom was he indignant forty years? Was it not with those that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom he swore that they should not enter into his rest, but to those that disobeyed? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of their unbelief.
