¹⁷ ¶ And as he was leaving to continue his way, there came one running, who kneeled before him and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he entered into his house; and with the windows open toward Jerusalem in his dining chamber, he knelt three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God as he was used to doing before.

¹⁴ ¶ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

¹⁶ ¶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Why dost thou call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God, but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. ¹⁸ He said unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, ¹⁹ Honour thy father and thy mother, and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ²⁰ The young man said unto him, All these things I have kept from my youth up; what do I lack? ²¹ Jesus said unto him, If thou desire to be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me. ²² But when the young man heard that word, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. ²³ ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is difficult that a rich man shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁵ But his disciples hearing these things were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. ²⁷ Then Peter answered and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? ²⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, to judge the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life. ³⁰ But many that are first shall be last, and many of the last shall be first.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto those on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

⁸ And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy and ran to bring his disciples word.

⁴⁰ ¶ And a leper came to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

²⁵ When Jesus saw that the multitude concurred, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him and enter no more into him.

¹⁴ And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth who regards no man; for thou dost not look upon the appearance of men, but dost with truth teach the way of God; is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?

²⁵ ¶ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

¹⁸ ¶ And a certain prince asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? ¹⁹ And Jesus said unto him, Why dost thou call me good? No one is good except one, that is, God. ²⁰ Thou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. ²¹ And he said, All these things I have kept from my youth up. ²² Now when Jesus heard this, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. ²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich. ²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How difficult it is for those that have riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁶ And those that heard it said, Who then can be saved? ²⁷ And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. ²⁸ Then Peter said, Behold, we have left all and followed thee. ²⁹ And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no one that has left house or parents or brethren or wife or children for the kingdom of God’s sake ³⁰ who shall not receive manifold more in this present time and in the age to come, eternal life.

² the same came to Jesus by night and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that thou doest unless God is with him.

³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are those who testify of me.

²⁷ Labour not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you, for him has God the Father sealed. ²⁸ ¶ Then they said unto him, What shall we do that we might work the works of God?

⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, That every one who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day.

² Then she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. ³ Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. ⁴ So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came first to the sepulchre.

³⁷ ¶ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behooves thee to do.

³⁰ and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

³² And now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is powerful to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the grace of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

² For I give testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law, to give righteousness to every one that believes.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.
