³ And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my slave Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and has departed from evil and that he still retains his perfection, although thou didst incite me against him to destroy him without cause.

⁷ ¶ So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head.

⁶ ¶ The tents of robbers are at ease, and those that provoke God and those who carry gods in their hands live secure. ⁷ But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the heavens, and they shall show thee; ⁸ or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; the fishes of the sea shall declare it unto thee also. ⁹ What thing of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD made them? ¹⁰ In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the spirit of all flesh of man.

¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom and the greatness and the glory and the magnificence: ¹⁹ and by the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him; whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he humbled. ²⁰ But when his heart made itself arrogant, and his spirit hardened itself in pride, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom, and they took his glory from him:

⁷ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold the fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and exceedingly strong; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and trod down that which was left with its feet; and it was very different from all the beasts that had been before her; and it had ten horns. ⁸ As I was considering the horns, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots; and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking grand things. ⁹ ¶ I beheld until thrones were placed, and an Elder of great age did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool: his throne a flame of fire, his wheels burning fire. ¹⁰ A river of fire issued and came forth from before him; thousands of thousands served him, and ten thousands of ten thousands stood before him; the Judge sat down, and the books were opened. ¹¹ I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke; I beheld even until the beast was slain and its body was undone and given over to be burned in the fire. ¹² They had also taken from the other beasts their rule because their lives had been prolonged until a certain time. ¹³ I saw in the vision of the night, and, behold, in the clouds of heaven like a Son of man that came and drew near unto the Elder of great age, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And he gave him dominion and glory and kingdom; and all the peoples, nations, and tongues served him: his dominion is an eternal dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom such that it shall never be corrupted. ¹⁵ ¶ My spirit was troubled, I Daniel, in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head astonished me. ¹⁶ I came near unto one of those that stood by and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me and made me know the interpretation of the things. ¹⁷ These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise in the earth. ¹⁸ And they shall take the kingdom of the Holy One who is most High and possess the kingdom until the age and until the age of the ages. ¹⁹ Then I had the desire to know the truth regarding the fourth beast, which was so different from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which devoured and broke in pieces and trod down that which was left with its feet; ²⁰ also regarding the ten horns that were in its head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; and that same horn had eyes and a mouth that spoke very grand things, whose appearance was greater than his fellows. ²¹ I saw that this horn made war against the saints and overcame them; ²² until such time as the Elder of great age came, and the judgment was given unto the saints of the most High; and the time came, and the saints possessed the kingdom. ²³ Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth king in earth, which shall be greater than all the other kingdoms and shall devour the whole earth and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. ²⁴ And the ten horns signify that of this kingdom ten kings shall arise; and another shall rise after them; and he shall be greater than the first kings, and he shall bring down three kings. ²⁵ And he shall speak great words against the most High and shall break down the saints of the most High and think to move the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the half or dividing of a time. ²⁶ And the Judge shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion to destroy and to cast out unto the end; ²⁷ and that the kingdom and the dominion, and the majesty of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, be given to the holy people of the most High, His kingdom shall be an eternal kingdom, and all the dominions shall serve him and hear him. ²⁸ Up unto here was the end of the word. I, Daniel, was very troubled in my thoughts, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the word in my heart.

³ And I turned my face unto the Lord God, seeking him in prayer and supplication, in fasting and sackcloth, and ashes:

¹⁸ O my God, incline thine ear and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee confiding in our righteousnesses, but in thy many mercies.

¹³ For, behold, he that forms the mountains and creates the wind and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the darkness into morning and treads above the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of the hosts, is his name.

⁸ look unto him that makes the seven stars and Orion and turns the shadow of death into the morning and makes the day dark with night, that calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name;

⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will cover the earth with darkness in the clear day;

⁸ Their horses shall be swifter than tigers and are sharper than the evening wolves, and their horsemen shall multiply themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as eagles that hasten to eat.

¹⁴ And dost make men as the fishes of the sea, as reptiles that have no lord? ¹⁵ He shall take up all of them with his hook; he shall catch them in his net and gather them in his drag: therefore, he shall rejoice and be glad. ¹⁶ Therefore, he shall sacrifice unto his net and burn incense unto his drag because by them his portion is fat, and his food plenteous. ¹⁷ Shall he therefore empty his net, or have pity to stop slaying Gentiles continually?

⁶ He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

¹⁰ The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands.

⁶ For thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Yet even once, and I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land;

²¹ Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I cause the heavens and the earth to shake,

⁷ Who art thou, O great mountain before Zerubbabel? Thou shalt be reduced to a plain; and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

¹ ¶ The burden of the word of the LORD upon Israel, said the LORD, who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him.

⁴ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, making a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south. ⁵ And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal; and ye shall flee like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the LORD my God shall come, and all his saints with him.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

²⁷ and the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.

²⁶ Even so, Father, for thus it was pleasing in thy sight.

²⁰ A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoking flax he shall not quench until he sends forth judgment unto victory.

³⁶ But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking upon the sea. ²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking upon the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear. ²⁷ But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Trust that I AM; be not afraid. ²⁸ Then Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me to come unto thee upon the water. ²⁹ And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked upon the water to go to Jesus. ³⁰ But seeing that the wind was strong, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil because I am good?

²¹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

⁵¹ And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

² And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Think ye that these Galilaeans suffered such things because they were greater sinners than all the other Galilaeans? ³ I tell you, No; but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. ⁴ Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and slew them, think ye that they were greater debtors than all the other men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Ye are they who justify themselves before men, but God knows your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

¹¹ and there shall be great earthquakes in different places and famines and pestilences, and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

²⁵ Then there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

⁴¹ And as they were not believing him yet for joy and wondering, he said unto them, Have ye here any food?

¹⁹ So when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking upon the sea and drawing nigh unto the ship, and they were afraid.

³ Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

²⁵ But this comes to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

¹⁴ And when she recognized Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood at the gate. ¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then they said, It is his angel. ¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

¹³ And having gone around, we came to Rhegium, and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli,

²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

¹⁸ Therefore he has mercy on whom he will have mercy, and he hardens whom he will. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then unto me, Why does he become angry? For who shall resist his will? ²⁰ Rather, O man, who art thou to reply against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

³ For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

³³ ¶ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and his ways past finding out! ³⁴ For who has understood the intent of the Lord? or who has been his counsellor?

²⁵ For that which is foolish of God is wiser than men, and that which is weak of God is stronger than men.

⁴ For although I have nothing on my conscience, yet am I not hereby justified, but he that judges me is the Lord.

²² Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

⁸ which has over abounded in us in all wisdom and prudence;

¹¹ in him in whom likewise we have obtained an inheritance, having had the way marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of his power in us who believe, by the operation of the power of his strength,

¹⁰ To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} the manifold wisdom of God,

²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ ⁹ ¶ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

¹² Not as though I had already attained it, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if I may lay hold of that for which I have also been laid hold of by the Christ, Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I do not reckon to have laid hold of it yet, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and extending myself unto those things which are ahead, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ ¶ Let us, therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded; and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

⁵ perverse disputings of men of corrupt understanding, and destitute of the truth, using piety as a source of gain: from such withdraw thyself.

¹⁶ the only one who has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

³⁶ and others experienced cruel mockings and scourgings, and added to this, bonds and imprisonment; ³⁷ they were stoned; they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; poor, afflicted, mistreated,

¹¹ It is true that no chastening at present seems to be cause for joy, but rather for grief; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised by it.

²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying, Yet even once, I shall shake not the earth only, but also the heaven.

² For we all offend in many things. If any man offends not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to govern the whole body with restraint.

⁶ But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble. ⁷ Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

¹⁴ and ye do not know what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? Certainly it is a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

²³ who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;

⁸ ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.

¹ ¶ My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye sin not; and if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate before the Father, Jesus, the righteous Christ; ² and he is the reconciliation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

²⁰ ¶ And if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

²⁴ Now unto him that is powerful to keep you without sin and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, ²⁵ to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, now and in all the ages. Amen.

¹¹ ¶ And I saw a great white throne and him that was seated upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and their place was not found.
