¹¹ ¶ O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will cement thy stones upon carbuncle and lay thy foundations upon sapphires.

²³ ¶ And it came to pass in process of time that the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God from their bondage.

² And the Angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

⁷ ¶ And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

¹⁰ and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone like unto the heaven when it is clear.

¹⁷ And thou shalt fill it with four rows of stones; The order shall be a ruby, an emerald, and a chrysolite; this shall be the first order. ¹⁸ And the second order shall be a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond. ¹⁹ And the third order, a topaz, a turquoise, and an amethyst. ²⁰ And the fourth row a tarshish (or beryl) and an onyx and a jasper; they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.

¹⁰ And they set in it four orders of stones. The order was a ruby, an emerald, and a chrysolite: this was the first order. ¹¹ The second order, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond. ¹² The third order, a topaz, a turquoise, and an amethyst. ¹³ And the fourth order, a tarshish (or beryl), an onyx, and a jasper; they were set and inclosed in their settings of gold. ¹⁴ The stones were in agreement with the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, in agreement with their names, like the engravings of a seal, each one in agreement with his name, according to the twelve tribes.

¹⁷ Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that same day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?

¹⁷ And the king commanded that they bring great stones, costly stones, for the foundation of the house, and hewed stones.

² Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God, gold for the things of gold, and silver for the things of silver, and brass for the things of brass, and iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, black stones and of different colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

¹⁹ Koph Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD shall deliver him out of them all,

¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say: ² Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed against me. ³ The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.

¹⁴ His hands are as gold rings set with beryls; his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.

³² What shall one then answer the messengers of the Gentiles? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people shall have confidence.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste.

¹⁴ But Zion said, The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.

¹⁷ ¶ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling and wrung them out. ¹⁸ There is no one to guide her among all the sons whom she has brought forth; neither is there any that takes her by the hand of all the sons that she has brought up. ¹⁹ These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword. Who shall comfort thee?

²¹ Therefore now hear this, thou afflicted and drunken, but not with wine:

²³ But I will put it into the hand of those that afflict thee, which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground and as the street to those that went over.

⁶ ¶ For as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit has the LORD called thee, and as a young woman who is put away, said thy God.

¹⁵ ¶ Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will place thee in eternal glory, in joy from generation to generation.

¹⁷ For I will cause healing to come for thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, said the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after.

¹ ¶ Aleph How does the city sit solitary, that was full of people! The great one among the nations is become as a widow; the princess of provinces is become tributary. ² Beth She weeps sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her; all her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.

¹⁶ Ain For these things I weep; my eyes, my eyes stream with water because the comforter that gives rest unto my soul has left me; my sons are desolate because the enemy prevailed. ¹⁷ Pe Zion spread forth her hands and has no comforter; the LORD gave a commandment against Jacob that his enemies should besiege him; Jerusalem was an abomination in the midst of them.

²¹ Schin They have heard that I sigh; and there is no comforter for me; all my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it. Thou hast brought the day that thou hast spoken of, but they shall be like unto me.

²⁶ ¶ And above the heaven that was over their heads was the figure of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the figure of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man seated upon it.

¹ ¶ Then I looked, and, behold, above the heaven that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

¹ ¶ In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was smitten, in that same day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me there. ² In the visions of God he brought me into the land of Israel and set me upon a very high mountain, upon which was as the frame of a city to the south. ³ And he brought me there, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. ⁴ And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes and hear with thine ears and set thine heart upon all that I show thee for to the intent that I might show them unto thee art thou brought here: declare all that thou dost see to the house of Israel. ⁵ ¶ And behold a wall on the outside of the house, and the measuring reed which that man had in his hand, was six cubits long, of a cubit and a hand breadth; so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed. ⁶ Then he came unto the gate which looks toward the east and went up the stairs thereof and measured the post of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other post of the gate, which was one reed broad. ⁷ And each chamber was one reed long and one reed broad; and between the chambers were five cubits; and each post of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed. ⁸ He also measured the porch of the gate within, one reed. ⁹ Then he measured the entrance of the portal, eight cubits; and its posts, two cubits; and the entrance of the portal within. ¹⁰ And the gate eastward had three chambers on each side, they three were of one measure; and the portals were also of one measure on each side. ¹¹ And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the portal, thirteen cubits. ¹² The space also before the chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side; and the chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side. ¹³ He measured then the gate from the roof of one chamber to the roof of another; the breadth was twenty-five cubits, door against door. ¹⁴ He also made the portals of sixty cubits, each portal of the court and of the portal all around. ¹⁵ And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits. ¹⁶ And there were narrow windows in the chambers, and in their portals within the gate round about, and likewise in the arches; and the windows were round about inward; and upon each post were palm trees. ¹⁷ Then he brought me into the outer court, and, behold, there were chambers and a pavement made for the court round about; thirty chambers were in that court. ¹⁸ And the lower pavement was paved to the side of the gates, in proportion to the length of the portals. ¹⁹ Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, one hundred cubits eastward and north ward. ²⁰ And the gate of the outer court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof and the breadth thereof. ²¹ And its chambers were three on this side and three on that side; and its posts and its arches were after the measure of the first gate; its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits. ²² And their windows and their arches and their palm trees were after the measure of the gate that looks toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and its arches were before them. ²³ And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate one hundred cubits. ²⁴ After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south; and he measured its portals and its arches according to these measures. ²⁵ And there were windows in it and in its arches round about, like those windows; the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth twenty-five cubits. ²⁶ And there were seven steps to go up to it, and its arches were before them; and it had palm trees, one on this side and another on that side, upon the posts thereof. ²⁷ ¶ And thus was the gate in the inner court toward the south; and he measured from gate to gate toward the south one hundred cubits. ²⁸ And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate; and he measured the south gate according to these measures; ²⁹ and its chambers, and its posts and its arches according to these measures; and there were windows in it and in its arches round about; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits broad. ³⁰ And the arches round about were twenty-five cubits long and five cubits broad. ³¹ And its arches went into the court outside, with palm trees upon each of its posts; and the going up to it had eight steps. ³² And he brought me into the inner court toward the east; and he measured the gate according to these measures. ³³ And its chambers and its posts and its arches were according to these measures; and there were windows therein and in its arches round about; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits broad. ³⁴ And its arches went into the court outside, with palm trees upon each of its posts, on this side and on that side; and the going up to it had eight steps. ³⁵ Then he brought me to the north gate and measured it according to these measures; ³⁶ its chambers, its posts and its arches and the windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits and the breadth twenty-five cubits. ³⁷ And its posts were toward the outer court; with palm trees upon each of its posts, on this side and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps. ³⁸ And there was a chamber and its gate with posts of portals, there they shall wash the burnt offering. ³⁹ ¶ And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side and two tables on that side, to slay the burnt offering upon and the sin and the guilt. ⁴⁰ And to the outside of the steps at the entry of the north gate were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables. ⁴¹ Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of this gate; eight tables, upon which they slew their sacrifices. ⁴² And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and a half long, and a cubit and a half broad, and one cubit high; upon which they also laid the instruments with which they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.

²⁴ And, behold, there arose a great moving in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves; but he was asleep.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

³³ These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to remain in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁸ And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship; ¹⁹ and the third day with our own hands we cast off the dead works of the ship. ²⁰ And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then lost.

²⁰ and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone,

⁴ ¶ coming unto whom (is the living Stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious), ⁵ ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, well pleasing to God by Jesus, the Christ. ⁶ Therefore, also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion the chief corner stone, chosen, precious; and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.

³ ¶ And I will give my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. ⁴ These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. ⁵ And if anyone desires to hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and if anyone desires to hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. ⁶ These have power to shut the heaven, that it not rain in the days of their prophecy and have power over the waters to turn them to blood and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. ⁷ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them and shall overcome them and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the streets of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. ⁹ And those of the peoples and kindreds and tongues and Gentiles shall see their dead bodies three days and a half and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. ¹⁰ And those that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and make merry and shall send gifts one to another because these two prophets tormented those that dwelt on the earth.

¹³ And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the man child. ¹⁴ And to the woman were given two wings of the great eagle that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time and times. ¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a river after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the river. ¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon had cast out of his mouth. ¹⁷ And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ And the material of its wall was jasper; but the city was of pure gold, like unto clean glass. ¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; ²⁰ the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates are twelve pearls; in each one, one; each gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as shining glass.
