⁶ and said, O my God, I am confused and ashamed to lift up my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have multiplied over our head, and our guiltiness is grown up unto heaven.

¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

⁹ But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out before the host that came to Samaria and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage. This reaches up unto heaven.

¹³ And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guiltiness, seeing that thou our God hast intervened that we no longer be oppressed because of our iniquities and hast given us such an escape as this,

¹⁵ O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we have an escape, as it is this day, behold us here, before thee in our guiltiness; for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

⁴ Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand over my mouth.

⁶ Therefore, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.

⁴ For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

¹⁸ Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool.

¹² For our rebellions are multiplied before thee, and our sins have testified against us; for our iniquities are with us; and we know our sins:

³ Therefore the rain has been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; and thou dost have a whore’s forehead, thou dost refuse to be ashamed.

²⁴ For shame has devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth: their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. ²⁵ We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not hearkened unto the voice of the LORD our God.

¹⁹ Surely after I was turned, I repented; and after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, and even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.

⁶³ that thou may remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, said the Lord GOD.

⁷ O Lord, the righteousness belongs unto thee, but unto us the confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near and that are far off through all the lands where thou hast driven them because of their rebellion with which they have rebelled against thee. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

²¹ And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight and am no longer worthy to be called thy son.

²¹ What fruit had ye then in those things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

⁵ For her sins have reached unto the heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
