⁷ ¶ When a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief is found, let him pay double.

⁴ If he is found with the theft in his hand, whether it be ox or ass or sheep, he shall restore double.

³⁰ Men do not take a thief lightly, even if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ³¹ and once he is taken, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is taken, so shall the house of Israel be ashamed: they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
