³ Then this Daniel was preferred above these governors and presidents because an overabundance of the Spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole kingdom.

³⁸ And Pharaoh said unto his slaves, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? ³⁹ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God has showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art. ⁴⁰ Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled; only in the throne will I be greater than thou. ⁴¹ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

² that I commanded my brother Hanani, and Hananiah, the prince of the palace in Jerusalem (for he was as a man of truth and feared God above many);

³ For Mordecai, the Jew, was next unto King Ahasuerus and great among the Jews and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace unto all his seed.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the tablet of thine heart: ⁴ So shalt thou find grace and good favour in the sight of God and man.

²⁷ ¶ He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

²⁹ ¶ Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.

¹³ And I have seen that wisdom excels folly as far as light excels darkness.

¹² because Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation.

¹⁴ I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the holy God is in thee and that light and understanding and greater wisdom was found in thee.

²³ At the beginning of thy supplications, the word went forth, and I have come to teach it unto thee; for thou art a man greatly beloved: therefore understand the word, and understand the vision.
