THE BURDEN OF THE ANIMALS OF THE SOUTH
The burden of the animals of the south: Into the land of tribulation and distress from whence the roaring lion and the old lion, the hisser and flying seraph - who bear their valuables on the shoulders of colts and their treasures on the humps of camels to a people who benefit them not.

¹⁶ But you say, No; for we flee upon horses! - so you, flee: and, We ride upon the swift! - so your pursuers are swift.

HO TO THEM WHO LOOK NOT UPON THE HOLY ONE
Ho to them who descend to Misrayim for help; and lean on horses and confide in chariots because they are many; and in cavalry because they are mighty mighty; and neither look to the Holy One of Yisra El nor seek Yah Veh. ² Yet he also is wise and brings evil and turns not aside his words: but rises against the house of the vilifiers, and against the help of them who work mischief. ³ And the Misrayim are human, and not El; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yah Veh spreads his hand the helper falters and the helped falls and they all finish together. ⁴ For Yah Veh says thus to me, As the lion and the whelp meditate on his prey when a fulness of tenders call against him, he neither terrifies by their voice nor humbles himself for the multitude: thus Yah Veh Sabaoth descends to fight for mount Siyon and for the hill.

¹⁴ surely the citadels are abandoned and the multitude of the city forsaken; the mounds and lookout towers become caves eternally - a joy of wild runners - a pasture of droves;

³¹ but they who await Yah Veh, change their force; they ascend with pinions as eagles; they run, and belabor not; and they walk, and weary not.

THE IDOLS OF BABEL
Bel kneels; Nebo stoops; their idols are for the live beings and for the animals: your loads are heavily loaded - a burden to the languid.

¹⁷ For the perversity of his greedy gain I rage and smite him: I hide myself and rage, and he goes on apostate in the way of his heart.

²³ Thus says Yah Veh, O that the wise not halal in his wisdom - the mighty not halal in his might; the rich not halal in his riches:

⁵ And even the hind births in the field, and forsakes; because there is no sprout: ⁶ and the wild runners stand in the barrens; they gulp the wind as monsters; their eyes finish off because there is no herbage.

⁶ And he becomes as the naked in the plain, and sees not when good comes; and tabernacles in the scorches in the wilderness - in a salt land, not settled.

¹⁶ your trembling deceives you - and the arrogance of your heart, O you who tabernacle in the clefts of the rock - who apprehend the height of the hill: though you heighten your nest as high as the eagle, I bring you down from there - an oracle of Yah Veh.
