³ I neither eat bread of desire nor flesh and wine come into my mouth; and in anointing, I anoint not myself until the fulfilling of three weeks of days:

²⁴ And Mephi Bosheth the son of Shaul descends to meet the sovereign; and has neither worked his feet nor worked his upper lip nor laundered his clothes from the day the sovereign went until the day he came in shalom.

²⁰ his life loathes bread and his soul food of desire;

⁶ So the oath devours the earth, and the settlers therein guilt: so the settlers of the earth scorch and few men survive: ⁷ the juice mourns; the vine languishes; all the cheerful sigh: ⁸ the joy of tambourines shabbathizes; the uproar of them who jump for joy ceases; the joy of the harp shabbathizes: ⁹ they drink no wine with a song; strong drink embitters them who drink: ¹⁰ the city of waste breaks down: every house is shut so that no man comes in. ¹¹ There is an outcry for wine in the outways: all cheerfulness is obscured; the joy of the land is exiled:

¹⁸ Then the sovereign goes to his manse and lodges overnight fasting; and his instruments enter not in front of him and his sleep flees from him.

⁸ and also carries captives into Misrayim - their elohim with their libations and with their instruments of desire of silver and of gold: and he stands more years than the sovereign of the north:

¹¹ so because you trample on the poor and take his burdens of grain; you build houses of hewn stone, and you settle not therein; you plant vineyards of desire, and you drink not their wine.

⁹ Plunder the silver; plunder the gold: for there is no end of the structure and honor of all the vessels of desire;

¹⁷ But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face;

²⁷ but I subdue my body and bring it to servitude: lest somehow, having preached to others, I myself become disapproved.
