^{7 (1:6)} Shew me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou liest in the midday, lest I begin to wander after the flocks of thy companions.

¹⁶ But he answered: I seek my brethren, tell me where they feed the flocks.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people: Fear not, you have done all this evil: but yet depart not from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. ²¹ And turn not aside after vain things, which shall never profit you, nor deliver you, because they are vain.

¹ I have loved, because the Lord will hear the voice of my prayer.

³ As the apple tree among the trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow, whom I desired: and his fruit was sweet to my palate.

¹⁶ My beloved to me, and I to him who feedeth among the lilies,

¹ In my bed by night I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and found him not. ² I will rise, and will go about the city: in the streets and the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and I found him not. ³ The watchmen who keep the city, found me: Have you seen him, whom my soul loveth? ⁴ When I had a little passed by them, I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him: and I will not let him go, till I bring him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that bore me.

⁸ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him that I languish with love.

¹⁰ My beloved is white and ruddy, chosen out of thousands.

¹⁶ His throat most sweet, and he is all lovely: such is my beloved, and he is my friend, O ye daughters of Jerusalem.

¹³ Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the friends hearken: make me hear thy voice.

¹ I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my cousin concerning his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a hill in a fruitful place.

²⁰ It shall no more be inhabited for ever, and it shall not be founded unto generation and generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch his tents there, nor shall shepherds rest there.

⁹ My soul hath desired thee in the night: yea, and with my spirit within me in the morning early I will watch to thee. When thou shalt do thy judgments on the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learn justice.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.

¹² Thus saith the Lord of hosts: There shall be again in this place that is desolate without man, and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

⁴ And he shall stand, and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the height of the name of the Lord, his God: and they shall be converted, for now shall he be magnified even to the ends of the earth.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

¹¹ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.

²⁸ And I give them life everlasting: and they shall not perish for ever. And no man shall pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ That which my Father hath given me is greater than all: and no one can snatch them out of the hand of my Father.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep.

¹⁴ But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection. ¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly: in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. ¹⁸ Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it behoveth in the Lord.

⁸ Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now though you see him not, you believe and, believing, shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;

⁷ To you therefore that believe, he is honour: but to them that believe not, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:

¹⁹ They went out from us but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us: but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us.

¹⁷ For the Lamb, which is in the midst of the throne, shall rule them and shall lead them to the fountains of the waters of life: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
