¹⁸ For he that in this serveth Christ pleaseth God and is approved of men.

⁷ If thou do well, shalt thou not receive? but if ill, shall not sin forthwith be present at the door? but the lust thereof shall be under thee, and thou shalt have dominion over it.

⁷ Go then, and eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with gladness: because thy works please God.

³⁴ Even as a man who, going into a far country, left his house and gave authority to his servants over every work and commanded the porter to watch.

²⁶ If any man minister to me, let him follow me: and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.

³⁵ But in every nation, he that feareth him and worketh justice is acceptable to him.

²² But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. ² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

¹¹ In carefulness not slothful. In spirit fervent. Serving the Lord.

⁴ Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? To his own lord he standeth or falleth. And he shall stand: for God is able to make him stand.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not Christ our Lord but their own belly: and by pleasing speeches and good words seduce the hearts of the innocent.

²² For he that is called in the Lord, being a bondman, is the freeman of the Lord. Likewise he that is called, being free, is the bondman of Christ.

² But we renounce the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness nor adulterating the word of God: but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience, in the sight of God.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we use persuasion to men: but to God we are manifest. And I trust also that in your consciences we are manifest.

⁴ But in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses,

²¹ For we forecast what may be good, not only before God but also before men.

¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision: but a new creature. ¹⁶ And whosoever shall follow this rule, peace on them and mercy: and upon the Israel of God.

¹⁸ But I have all and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent, an odour of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

²⁴ Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.

³ Being mindful of the work of your faith and labour and charity: and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father. ⁴ Knowing, brethren, beloved of God, your election:

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,

⁴ But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let her learn first to govern her own house and to make a return of duty to her parents; for this is acceptable before God.

¹¹ For the grace of God our Saviour hath appeared to all men: ¹² Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly and justly and godly in this world, ¹³ Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

¹⁸ But some man will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works. Shew me thy faith without works; and I will shew thee, by works, my faith. ¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble. ²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, offering up Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Seest thou that faith did cooperate with his works and by works faith was made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled, saying: Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him to justice, and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Do you see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only? ²⁵ And in like manner also Rahab the harlot, was not she justified by works, receiving the messengers and sending them out another way? ²⁶ For even as the body without the spirit is dead: so also faith without works is dead.

⁵ Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

²⁰ For what glory is it, if, committing sin and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently: this is thankworthy before God.

¹⁶ But with modesty and fear, having a good conscience: that whereas they speak evil of you, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
