^{8 (7:9)} The Lord judgeth the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice, and according to my innocence in me.

²⁵ Far be it from thee to do this thing, and to slay the just with the wicked, and for the just to be in like case as the wicked; this is not beseeming thee: thou who judgest all the earth, wilt not make this judgment.

¹² O our God, wilt thou not then judge them? as for us we have not strength enough, to be able to resist this multitude, which cometh violently upon us. But as we know not what to do, we can only turn our eyes to thee.

²⁴ Judge me, O Lord my God according to thy justice, and let them not rejoice over me. ²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts: It is well, it is well, to our mind: neither let them say: We have swallowed him up. ²⁶ Let them blush: and be ashamed together, who rejoice at my evils. Let them be clothed with confusion and shame, who speak great things against me. ²⁷ Let them rejoice and be glad, who are well pleased with my justice, and let them say always: The Lord be magnified, who delights in the peace of his servant.

Yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. ⁵ Therefore, judge not before the time: until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise from God.

¹² For our glory is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity of heart and sincerity of God, and not in carnal wisdom, but in the grace of God, we have conversed in this world: and more abundantly towards you.
