¹ That night the king passed without sleep, and he commanded the histories and chronicles of former times to be brought him. And when they were reading them before him,

¹³ And they sat with him on the ground seven day and seven nights and no man spoke to him a word: for they saw that his grief was very great.

³ As the sand of the sea, this would appear heavier: therefore, my words are full of sorrow:

¹³ If I say: My bed shall comfort me, and I shall be relieved, speaking with myself on my couch: ¹⁴ Thou wilt frighten me with dreams, and terrify me with visions. ¹⁵ So that my soul rather chooseth hanging, and my bones death.
