⁶ Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

²⁴ He remained alone; and behold, a man wrestled with him till morning. ²⁵ And when he saw that he could not overcome him, he touched the sinew of his thigh, and forthwith it shrank. ²⁶ And he said to him: Let me go, for it is break of day. He answered: I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. ²⁷ And he said: What is thy name? He answered: Jacob. ²⁸ But he said: Thy name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel; for if thou hast been strong against God, how much more shalt thou prevail against men? ²⁹ Jacob asked him: Tell me by what name art thou called? He answered: Why dost thou ask my name? And he blessed him in the same place. ³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Phanuel, saying: I have seen God face to face, and my soul has been saved.

¹⁵ And Jacob blessed the sons of Joseph, and said: God, in whose sight my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, God that feedeth me from my youth until this day: ¹⁶ The angel that delivereth me from all evils, bless these boys: and let my name be called upon them, and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and may they grow into a multitude upon the earth.

¹³ And when Josue was in the field of the city of Jericho, he lifted up his eyes, and saw a man standing over against him, holding a drawn sword, and he went to him, and said: Art thou one of ours, or of our adversaries? ¹⁴ And he answered: No: but I am prince of the host of the Lord, and now I am come. ^(5:15) Josue fell on his face to the ground. And worshipping, said: What saith my lord to his servant? ^{15 (5:16)} Loose, saith he, thy shoes from off thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Josue did as was commanded him.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel.

⁸ And shall pass through Juda, overflowing, and going over shall reach even to the neck. And the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy, land, O Emmanuel.

⁶ For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.

⁶ In those days shall Juda be saved, and Israel shall dwell confidently: and this is the name that they shall call him: The Lord our just one.

² And I saw, and behold a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins, and downward, fire: and from his loins, and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the appearance of amber. ³ And the likeness of a hand was put forth and took me by a lock of my head: and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the vision of God into Jerusalem, near the inner gate, that looked toward the north, where was set the idol of jealousy to provoke to jealousy. ⁴ And behold the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I had seen in the plain. ⁵ And he said to me: Son of man, lift up thy eyes towards the way of the north, and I lifted up my eyes towards the way of the north: and behold on the north side of the gate of the altar the idol of jealousy in the very entry. ⁶ And he said to me: Son of man, dost thou see, thinkest thou, what these are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should depart far off from my sanctuary? and turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations.

³ In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel. ⁴ And he prevailed over the angel, and was strengthened: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us. ⁵ Even the Lord God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial.

² And thou Bethlehem Ephrata, art a little one among the thousands of Juda, out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be the ruler in Israel: and his going forth is from the beginning, from the days of eternity.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that cleaveth to me, saith the Lord of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand to the little ones.

²³ Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

¹ In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God: and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God.

¹⁸ No man hath seen God at any time: the only begotten Son who is in the Bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

¹⁸ Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.

²³ That all men may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father who hath sent him.

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham was made, I AM. ⁵⁹ They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

³⁰ I and the Father are one.

³³ The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy: and because that thou. being a, man, makest thyself God.

³⁸ But if I do, though you will not believe me, believe the works: that you may know and believe that the Father is in me and I in the Father.

⁹ Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you and have you not known me? Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also. How sayest thou: Shew us the Father?

²⁸ You have heard that I said to you: I go away, and I come unto you. If you loved me you would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I.

⁵ And now glorify thou me, O Father, with thyself, with the glory which I had, before the world was, with thee.

²⁸ Thomas answered and said to him: My Lord and my God.

⁵ Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: ¹⁶ For in him were all things created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominations, or principalities, or powers. All things were created by him and in him. ¹⁷ Now to the king of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁶ And evidently great is the mystery of godliness, which was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the spirit, appeared unto angels, hath been preached unto the Gentiles, is believed in the world, is taken up in glory.

¹³ Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

³ Who being the brightness of his glory and the figure of his substance and upholding all things by the word of his power, making purgation of sins, sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high:

⁶ And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith: And let all the angels of God adore him.

⁸ But to the Son: Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of justice is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

⁸ Jesus Christ, yesterday, and today: and the same for ever.

¹⁷ And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ And alive, and was dead. And behold I am living for ever and ever and have the keys of death and of hell.

⁶ And he said to me: It is done. I am Alpha and Omega: the Beginning and the End. To him that thirsteth, I will give of the fountain of the water of life, freely.
