⁹ What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.

¹² In that day I will raise up against Heli all the things I have spoken concerning his house: I will begin, and I will make an end.

³⁰ There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel against the Lord.

⁹ Gather yourselves together, O ye people, and be overcome, and give ear, all ye lands afar off: strengthen yourselves, and be overcome, gird yourselves, and be overcome. ¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall be defeated: speak a word, and it shall not be done: because God is with us.

¹⁰ Thus saith the Lord God: In that day projects shall enter into thy heart, and thou shalt conceive a mischievous design. ¹¹ And thou shalt say: I will go up to the land which is without a wall, I will come to them that are at rest, and dwell securely: all these dwell without a wall, they have no bars nor gates:

¹¹ Out of thee shall come forth one that imagineth evil against the Lord, contriving treachery in his mind.

²⁵ Who, by the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of our father David, thy servant, hast said: Why did the Gentiles rage: and the people meditate vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up: and the princes assembled together against the Lord and his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth there assembled together in this city against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, ²⁸ To do what thy hand and thy counsel decreed to be done.
