⁸ But yet I am filled with the strength of the spirit of the Lord, with judgment and power: to declare unto Jacob his wickedness and to Israel his sin.

¹⁸ For I am full of matter to speak of, and the spirit of my bowels straiteneth me.

² And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the spirit of wisdom, and of understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge, and of godliness. ³ And he shall be filled with the spirit of the fear of the Lord, He shall not judge according to the sight of the eyes, nor reprove according to the hearing of the ears.

¹ Cry, cease not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their wicked doings, and the house of Jacob their sins.

¹⁸ For behold I have made thee this day a fortified city, and a pillar of iron, and a wall of brass, over all the land, to the kings of Juda, to the princes thereof, and to the priests, and to the people of the land.

¹¹ Therefore am I full of the fury of the Lord, I am weary with holding in: pour it out upon the child abroad, and upon the council of the young men together: for man and woman shall be taken, the ancient and he that is full of days.

¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the Lord: If thou wilt be converted, I will convert thee, and thou shalt stand before my face; and thou wilt separate the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: they shall be turned to thee, and thou shalt not be turned to them. ²⁰ And I will make thee to this people as a strong wall of brass: and they shall fight against thee, and shall not prevail: for I am with thee to save thee, and to deliver thee, saith the Lord. ²¹ And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the mighty.

⁹ Then I said: I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name: and there came in my heart as a burning fire, shut up in my bones, and I was wearied, not being able to bear it.

¹⁴ The spirit also lifted me, and took me up: and I went away in bitterness in the indignation of my spirit: for the hand of the Lord was with me, strengthening me.

² Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations.

⁴ If thou judgest them, if thou judgest, O son of man, declare to them the abominations of their fathers.

² And thou son of man, dost thou not judge, dost thou not judge the city of blood?

¹⁰ But thou, son of man, shew to the house of Israel the temple, and let them be ashamed of their iniquities, and let them measure the building:

⁷ And seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them: Ye brood of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of penance. ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father. For I tell you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ¹⁰ For now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water unto penance, but he that shall come after me, is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Ghost and fire. ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor and gather his wheat into the barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.

²⁹ For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes and Pharisees.

¹⁷ And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he named them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said to them: Ye princes of the people and ancients, hear. ⁹ If we this day are examined concerning the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he hath been made whole: ¹⁰ Be it known to you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him, this man standeth here before you, whole. ¹¹ This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner. ¹² Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.

¹⁹ But Peter and John answering, said to them: If it be just, in the sight of God, to hear you rather than God, judge ye. ²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

⁵¹ You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Ghost. As your fathers did, so do you also. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them who foretold of the coming of the Just One: of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers.

⁵⁴ Now hearing these things, they were cut to the heart: and they gnashed with their teeth at him. ⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looking up steadfastly to heaven, saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. ^{56 (7:55)} And he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. ^{57 (7:56)} And they, crying out with a loud voice, stopped their ears and with one accord ran violently upon him.

⁹ Then Saul, otherwise Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost, looking upon him, ¹⁰ Said: O full of all guile and of all deceit, child of the devil, enemy of all justice, thou ceases not to pervert the right ways of the Lord. ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee: and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a time. And immediately there fell a mist and darkness upon him: and going about, he sought some one to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then the proconsul, when he had seen what was done, believed, admiring at the doctrine of the Lord.

⁵ And when Silas and Timothy were come from Macedonia, Paul was earnest in preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. ⁶ But they gainsaying and blaspheming, he shook his garments and said to them: Your blood be upon your own heads: I am clean. From henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul in the night, by a vision: Do not fear, but speak. And hold not thy peace, ¹⁰ Because I am with thee and no man shall set upon thee, to hurt thee. For I have much people in this city. ¹¹ And he stayed there a year and six months, teaching among them the word of God.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching was not in the persuasive words of human wisdom. but in shewing of the Spirit and power:

¹² Now, we have received not the spirit of this world, but the Spirit that is of God: that we may know the things that are given us from God. ¹³ Which things also we speak: not in the learned words of human wisdom, but in the doctrine of the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
