³ And when he was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the consummation of the world?

⁶ And I said to the man that was clothed in linen, that stood upon the waters of the river: How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? ⁷ And I heard the man that was clothed in linen, that stood upon the waters of the river, when he had lifted up his right hand, and his left hand to heaven, and had sworn by him that liveth for ever, that it should be unto a time, and times, and half a time. And when the scattering of the band of the holy people shall be accomplished, all these things shall be finished. ⁸ And I heard, and understood not. And I said: O my lord, what shall be after these things?

¹⁰ And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables? ¹¹ Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.

³⁶ Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field.

³⁹ And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world.

⁴⁹ So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.

¹² Then came his disciples, and said to him: Dost thou know that the Pharisees, when they heard this word, were scandalized?

²⁷ For as lightning cometh out of the east and appeareth even into the west: so shall also the cowling of the Son of man be.

³² And from the fig tree learn a parable: When the branch thereof is now tender and the leaves come forth, you know that summer is nigh. ³³ So you also, when you shall see all these things, know ye that it is nigh, even at the doors.

³⁷ And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁹ And they knew not till the flood came and took them all away: so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.

⁴³ But this know ye, that, if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch and would not suffer his house to be broken open.

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

³ And as he sat on the mount of Olivet over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him apart: ⁴ Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled?

⁷ And they asked him, saying: Master, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when they shall begin to come to pass?

²¹ Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do? ²² Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? Follow thou me.

⁷ But he said to them: It is not for you to know the time or moments, which the Father hath put in his own power:

¹ But of the times and moments, brethren, you need not, that we should write to you: ² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord shall so come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say: Peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape. ⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ For all you are the children of light and children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do: but let us watch, and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breast plate of faith and charity and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation. ⁹ For God hath not appointed us unto wrath: but unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁰ Who died for us: that, whether we watch or sleep, we may live together with him. ¹¹ For which cause comfort one another and edify one another, as you also do.

²⁶ For then he ought to have suffered often from the beginning of the world. But now once, at the end of ages, he hath appeared for the destruction of sin by the sacrifice of himself.
