¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, They have no need to go: give you them to eat.

⁴² And a certain man came from Baalsalisa, bringing to the man of God, bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and new corn in his scrip. And he said: Give to the people, that they may eat. ⁴³ And his servant answered him: How much is this, that I should set it before a hundred men? He said again: Give to the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord: They shall eat, and there shall be left. ⁴⁴ So he set it before them: and they ate, and there was left, according to the word of the Lord.

¹⁶ If I have denied to the poor what they desired, and have made the eyes of the widow wait: ¹⁷ If I have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof:

²⁴ Some distribute their own goods, and grow richer: others take away what is not their own, and are always in want.

² Give a portion to seven, and also to eight: for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

¹¹ And he answering, said to them: He that hath two coats, let him give to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do in like manner.

²⁹ For some thought, because Judas had the purse, that Jesus had said to him: Buy those things which we have need of for the festival day: or that he should give something to the poor.

² That in much experience of tribulation, they have had abundance of joy and their very deep poverty hath abounded unto the riches of their simplicity. ³ For according to their power (I bear them witness) and beyond their power, they were willing:

⁷ Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound in you: that ye always, having all sufficiently in all things, may abound to every good work,
