⁴⁴ The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

² That thy ear may hearken to wisdom: incline thy heart to know prudence. ³ For if thou shalt call for wisdom, and incline thy heart to prudence: ⁴ If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure: ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God:

¹⁶ Get wisdom, because it is better than gold: and purchase prudence, for it is more precious than silver.

¹⁶ What doth it avail a fool to have riches, seeing he cannot buy wisdom? He that maketh his house high, seeketh a downfall: and he that refuseth to learn, shall fall into evils.

¹ He that hath a mind to depart from a friend, seeketh occasions: he shall ever be subject to reproach.

²³ Buy truth, and do not sell wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

¹ All you that thirst, come to the waters: and you that have no money make haste, buy, and eat: come ye, buy wine and milk without money, and without any price.

²¹ For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.

²⁴ Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seed in his field.

²¹ Jesus saith to him: If thou wilt be perfect, go sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

²⁷ Then Peter answering, said to him: Behold we have left all things, and have followed thee: what therefore shall we have?

²⁹ And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.

³³ So likewise every one of you that doth not renounce all that he possesseth cannot be my disciple.

²³ He having heard these things, became sorrowful: for he was very rich. ²⁴ And Jesus seeing him become sorrowful, said: How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God

⁶ And he made haste and came down and received him with joy. ⁷ And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner. ⁸ But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall not hunger: and he that believeth in me shall never thirst.

⁴⁴ And all they that believed were together and had all things common. ⁴⁵ Their possessions and goods they sold and divided them to all, according as every one had need. ⁴⁶ And continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart: ⁴⁷ Praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord increased daily together such as should be saved.

³² And the multitude of believers had but one heart and one soul. Neither did any one say that aught of the things which he possessed was his own: but all things were common unto them. ³³ And with great power did the Apostles give testimony of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord: and great grace was in them all. ³⁴ For neither was there any one needy among them. For as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the price of the things they sold, ³⁵ And laid it down before the feet of the apostles. And distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.

⁴ For what things soever were written were written for our learning: that, through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.

⁹ But, as it is written: That eye hath not seen, nor ear heard: neither hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love him. ¹⁰ But to us God hath revealed them by his Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

⁷ But the things that were gain to me, the same I have counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Furthermore, I count all things to be but loss for the excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them but as dung, that I may gain Christ. ⁹ And may be found in him, not having my justice, which is of the law, but that which is of the faith of Christ Jesus, which is of God: justice in faith.

³ In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

³ For you are dead: and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly: in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God.

³⁴ For you both had compassion on them that were in bands and took with joy the being stripped of your own goods, knowing that you have a better and a lasting substance.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, denied himself to be the son of Pharao's daughter: ²⁵ Rather choosing to be afflicted with the people of God than to have the pleasure of sin for a time: ²⁶ Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasure of the Egyptians. For he looked unto the reward.

¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold, fire tried, that thou mayest be made rich and mayest be clothed in white garments: and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear. And anoint thy eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
