⁶ But I tell you that there is here a greater than the temple.

¹⁸ Is it credible then that God should dwell with men on the earth? If heaven and the heavens of heavens do not contain thee, how much less this house, which I have built?

¹ Behold I send my angel, and he shall prepare the way before my face. And presently the Lord, whom you seek, and the angel of the testament, whom you desire, shall come to his temple. Behold, he cometh, saith the Lord of hosts.

⁴¹ The men of Ninive shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas here. ⁴² The queen of the south shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold a greater than Solomon here.

¹⁷ Ye foolish and blind: for whether is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? ¹⁸ And whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it is a debtor. ¹⁹ Ye foolish and blind: for whether is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? ²⁰ He therefore that sweareth by the altar sweareth by it and by all things that are upon it. ²¹ And whosoever shall swear by the temple sweareth by it and by him that dwelleth in it.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them: Destroy this temple; and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ The Jews then said: Six and forty years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body.

²⁰ Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone: ²¹ In whom all the building, being framed together, groweth up into an holy temple in the Lord. ²² In whom you also are built together into an habitation of God in the Spirit.

⁹ For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead corporeally.

⁴ Unto whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men but chosen and made honourable by God: ⁵ Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
