⁵⁴ And when his disciples, James and John, had seen this, they said: Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?

¹⁰ And Elias answering, said to the captain of fifty: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume thee, and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven and consumed him, and the fifty that were with him. ¹¹ And he again sent to him another captain of fifty men, and his fifty with him. And he said to him: Man of God: Thus saith the king: Make haste and come down. ¹² Elias answering, said: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee, and thy fifty. And fire came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ Again he sent a third captain of fifty men, and the fifty that were with him. And when he was come, he fell upon his knees before Elias, and besought him, and said: Man of God, despise not my life, and the lives of thy servants that are with me. ¹⁴ Behold fire came down from heaven, and consumed the two first captains of fifty men, and the fifties that were with them: but now I beseech thee to spare my life.

¹⁶ And said to him: Come with me, and see my zeal for the Lord. So he made him ride in his chariot,

³¹ But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel to sin.

²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants that with all confidence they may speak thy word, ³⁰ By stretching forth thy hand to cures and signs and wonders, to be done by the name of thy holy Son, Jesus.

¹⁹ You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak and slow to anger. ²⁰ For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter zeal, and there be contention in your hearts: glory not and be not liars against the truth. ¹⁵ For this is not wisdom, descending from above: but earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and contention is: there is inconstancy and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above, first indeed is chaste, then peaceable, modest, easy to be persuaded, consenting to the good, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, without dissimulation. ¹⁸ And the fruit of justice is sown in peace, to them that make peace.

³ And I saw one of his heads as it were slain to death: and his death's wound was healed. And all the earth was in admiration after the beast.
