²³ And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

³⁸ And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me. ³⁹ He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.

²⁶ If any man come to me, and hate not his father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

²⁵ Itself remaineth alone. But if it die it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it and he that hateth his life in this world keepeth it unto life eternal. ²⁶ If any man minister to me, let him follow me: and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.

¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.

³⁰ Why also are we in danger every hour? ³¹ I die daily, I protest by your glory, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is the service of idols.

¹² And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
