⁸ And the lord commended the unjust steward, forasmuch as he had done wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.

¹ Now the serpent was more subtle tha any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise?

¹⁰ Come let us wisely oppress them, lest they multiply: and if any war shall rise against us, join with our enemies, and having overcome us, depart out of the land.

And the just shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their help shall decay in hell from their glory. ^{15 (49:16)} But God will redeem my soul from the hand of hell, when he shall receive me. ^{16 (49:17)} Be not thou afraid, when a man shall be made rich, and when the glory of his house shall be increased. ^{17 (49:18)} For when he shall die he shall take nothing away; nor shall his glory descend with him. ^{18 (49:19)} For in his lifetime his soul will be blessed: and he will praise thee when thou shalt do well to him. ^{19 (49:20)} He shall g in to the generations of his fathers: and he shall never see light.

⁶ Go to the ant, O sluggard, and consider her ways, and learn wisdom: ⁷ Which, although she hath no guide, nor master, nor captain, ⁸ Provideth her meat for herself in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

⁴ I know what I will do, that when I shall be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

¹⁰ He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in that which is greater: and he that is unjust in that which is little is unjust also in that which is greater.

⁶ And the Lord said: Hear what the unjust judge saith.

³⁴ And Jesus said to them: The children of this world marry and are given in marriage:

³⁶ Whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things Jesus spoke: and he went away and hid himself from them.

¹⁸ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seem to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

⁸ For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction: whose God is their belly: and whose glory is in their shame: who mind earthly things.

⁵ For all you are the children of light and children of the day: we are not of the night nor of darkness.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever is not just is not of God, or he that loveth not his brother.
