²³ And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom:

²⁹ And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than thy whole body be cast into hell.

¹¹ And I say to you that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven: ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁹ And behold they cried out, saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

²³ And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in thee, perhaps it had remained unto this day.

⁹ And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee having one eye to enter into life, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

³³ You serpents, generation of vipers, how will you flee from the judgment of hell?

²⁸ And when he saw Jesus, he fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, do not torment me.

²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth; when you shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God: and you yourselves thrust out. ²⁹ And there shall come from the east and the west and the north and the south: and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

²⁸ That he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torments.

⁵⁵ O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

⁴ For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:

¹⁰ He also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mingled with pure wine in the cup of his wrath: and shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the sight of the holy angels and in the sight of the Lamb. ¹¹ And the smoke of their torments, shall ascend up for ever and ever: neither have they rest day nor night, who have adored the beast and his image and whoever receiveth the character of his name.

¹⁰ And the false prophet shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

¹³ And the sea gave up the dead that were in it: and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them. And they were judged, every one according to their works. ¹⁴ And hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death.
