⁷ Wonder not that I said to thee: You must be born again.

¹⁴ What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just?

³³ Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened. ³⁴ All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes: and without parables he did not speak to them. ³⁵ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.

³ Jesus answered and said to him: Amen, amen, I say to thee, unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

¹² If I have spoken to you earthly things, and you believe not: how will you believe, if I shall speak to you heavenly things?

²⁸ Wonder not at this: for the hour cometh wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.

^{61 (6:62)} But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? ^{62 (6:63)} If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? ^{63 (6:64)} It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

⁹ What then? Do we excel them? No, not so. For we have charged both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin. ¹⁰ As it is written: There is not any man just. ¹¹ There is none that understandeth: there is none that seeketh after God. ¹² All have turned out of the way: they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips. ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ¹⁵ Their feet swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ Destruction and misery in their ways: ¹⁷ And the way of peace they have not known. ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law speaketh, it speaketh to them that are in the law: that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be made subject to God.

²² What if God, willing to shew his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction, ²³ That he might shew the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he hath prepared unto glory? ²⁴ Even us, whom also he hath called, not only of the Jews but also of the Gentiles. ²⁵ As in Osee he saith: I will call that which was not my people, my people; and her that was not beloved, beloved; and her that had not obtained mercy; one that hath obtained mercy.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. ² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

²² To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. ²³ And be renewed in spirit of your mind: ²⁴ And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth.

¹² Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light:

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men and holiness: without which no man shall see God.

¹⁴ As children of obedience, not fashioned according to the former desires of your ignorance, ¹⁵ But according to him that hath called you, who is holy, be you also in all manner of conversation holy: ¹⁶ Because it is written: You shall be holy, for I am holy.

²² Purifying your souls in the obedience of charity, with a brotherly love, from a sincere heart love one another earnestly:

²⁷ There shall not enter into it any thing defiled or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie: but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb.
