³⁵ If he called them gods to whom the word of God was spoken; and the scripture cannot be broken:

¹ Now when these things were done, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: Fear not, Abram, I am thy protector, and thy reward exceeding great.

¹⁵ The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a PROPHET of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear:

¹⁸ I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger. ²⁰ But the prophet, who being corrupted with pride, shall speak in my name things that I did not command him to say, or in the name of strange gods, shall be slain.

¹ And Samuel said to Saul: The Lord sent me to anoint thee king over his people Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the Lord:

⁹ Now when David understood that Saul secretly prepared evil against him, he said to Abiathar, the priest: Bring hither the ephod. ¹⁰ And David said: O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath heard a report, that Saul designeth to come to Ceila, to destroy the city for my sake: ¹¹ Will the men of Ceila deliver me into his hands? and will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, tell thy servant. And the Lord said: He will come down.

⁶ And he consulted the Lord, and he answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by priests, nor by prophets.

⁸ And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I pursue after these robbers, and shall I overtake them, or not? And the Lord said to him: Pursue after them: for thou shalt surely overtake them and recover the prey.

⁵ Go, and say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord: Shalt thou build me a house to dwell in?

⁸ But the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Thou hast shed much blood, and fought many battles, so thou cannot not build house to my name, after shedding so much blood before me:

¹⁸ For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass: but my words shall not pass.

⁵³ Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done? ⁵⁵ In that same hour, Jesus said to the multitudes: You are come out, as it were to a robber, with swords and clubs to apprehend me. I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple: and you laid not hands on me. ⁵⁶ Now all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then the disciples, all leaving him, fled.

³⁵ And after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: They divided my garments among them; and upon my vesture they cast lots.

¹⁷ And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass than one tittle of the law to fall.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and so, to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the things that were concerning him.

⁴⁴ And he said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. ⁴⁶ And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer and to rise again from the dead, the third day:

³⁸ That the saying of Isaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who hath believed our hearing? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Isaias said again:

²⁸ Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst.

³⁶ For these things were done that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith: They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹⁶ Men, brethren, the scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was the leader of them that apprehended Jesus:

¹ Let every soul be subject to higher powers. For there is no power but from God: and those that are ordained of God.
