¹³ For it shall be thus in the midst of the earth, in the midst of the people, as if a few olives, that remain, should be shaken out of the olive tree: or grapes, when the vintage is ended.

⁹ Except the Lord of hosts had left us seed, we had been as Sodom, and we should have been like to Gomorrha.

¹³ And there shall be still a tithing therein, and she shall turn, and shall be made a show as a turpentine tree, and as an oak that spreadeth its branches: that which shall stand therein, shall be a holy seed.

²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and they that shall escape of the house of Jacob, shall lean no more upon him that striketh them: but they shall lean upon the Lord the Holy One of Israel, in truth. ²¹ The remnant shall be converted, the remnant, I say, of Jacob, to the mighty God. ²² For if thy people, O Israel, shall be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be converted, the consumption abridged shall overflow with justice.

⁵ And it shall be as when one gathereth in the harvest that which remaineth, and his arm shall gather the ears of corn: and it shall be as he that seeketh ears in the vale of Raphaim. ⁶ And the fruit thereof that shall be left upon it, shall be as one cluster of grapes, and as the shaking of the olive tree, two or three berries in the top of a bough, or four or five upon the top of the tree, saith the Lord the God of Israel.

²⁸ And a few men that shall flee from the sword, shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Juda: and all the remnant of Juda that are gone into the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs.

⁸ And I will leave in you some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when I shall have scattered you through the countries. ⁹ And they that are saved of you shall remember me amongst the nations, to which they are carried captives: because I have broken their heart that was faithless, and revolted from me: and their eyes that went a fornicating after their idols: and they shall be displeased with themselves because of the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. ¹⁰ And they shall know that I the Lord have not spoken in vain that I would do this evil to them. ¹¹ Thus saith the Lord God: Strike with thy hand and stamp with thy foot, and say: Alas, for all the abominations of the evils of the house of Israel: for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

¹⁶ And such of them as shall flee shall escape: and they shall be in the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them trembling, every one for his iniquity.

⁴ And the Lord said to him: Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem: and mark Thau upon the foreheads of the men that sigh, and mourn for all the abominations that are committed in the midst thereof. ⁵ And to the others he said in my hearing: Go ye after him through the city, and strike: let not your eyes spare, nor be ye moved with pity. ⁶ Utterly destroy old and young, maidens, children and women: but upon whomsoever you shall see Thau, kill him not, and begin ye at my sanctuary. So they began at the ancient men who were before the house.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Because I have removed them far off among the Gentiles, and because I have scattered them among the countries: I will be to them a little sanctuary in the countries whither they are come. ¹⁷ Therefore speak to them: Thus saith the Lord God: I will gather you from among the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries wherein you are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. ¹⁸ And they shall go in thither, and shall take away all the scandals, and all the abominations thereof from thence. ¹⁹ And I will give them one heart, and will put a new spirit in their bowels: and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: ²⁰ That they may walk in my commandments, and keep my judgments, and do them: and that they may be my people, and I may be their God.

²² Yet there shall be left in it some that shall be saved, who shall bring away their sons and daughters: behold they shall come among you, and you shall see their way, and their doings: and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, in all things that I have brought upon it. ²³ And they shall comfort you, when you shall see their ways, and their doings: and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God.

¹² I will assemble and gather together all of thee, O Jacob: I will bring together the remnant of Israel, I will put them together as a flock in the fold, as sheep in the midst of the sheepcotes, they shall make a tumult by reason of the multitude of men.

²² And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened.

² God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Know you not what the scripture saith of Elias, how he calleth on God against Israel? ³ Lord, they have slain thy prophets, they have dug down thy altars. And I am left alone: and they seek my life. ⁴ But what saith the divine answer to him? I have left me seven thousand men that have not bowed their knees to Baal. ⁵ Even so then, at this present time also, there is a remnant saved according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, it is not now by works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis which have not defiled their garments: and they shall walk with me in white, because they are worthy.

² But the court which is without the temple, cast out and measure it not: because it is given unto the Gentiles. And the holy city they shall tread under foot, two and forty months: ³ And I will give unto my two witnesses: and they shall prophesy, a thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.
