^{4 (5:3)} If thou hast vowed any thing to God, defer not to pay it: for an unfaithful and foolish promise displeaseth him: but whatsoever thou hast vowed, pay it.

²⁰ And he made a vow, saying: If God shall be with me, and shall keep me in the way, by which I walk, and shall give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

¹ In the mean time God said to Jacob: Arise and go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared to thee when thou didst flee from Esau, thy brother.

³ Arise, and let us go up to Bethel, that we may make there an altar to God; who heard me in the day of my affliction, and accompained me in my journey.

^{2 (30:3)} If any man make a vow to the Lord, or bind himself by an oath: he shall not make his word void but shall fulfil all that he promised.

²¹ When thou hast made a vow to the Lord thy God, thou shalt not delay to pay it: because the Lord thy God will require it. And if thou delay, it shall be imputed to thee for a sin. ²² If thou wilt not promise, that shalt be without sin. ²³ But that which is once gone out of thy lips, thou shalt observe, and shalt do as thou hast promised to the Lord thy God, and hast spoken with thy own will and with thy own mouth.

¹⁴ Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High.

¹³ I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows, ¹⁴ Which my lips have uttered, And my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

^{11 (76:12)} Vow ye, and pay to the Lord your God: all you that are round about him bring presents. To him that is terrible,

¹⁴ I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people:

¹⁶ O Lord, for I am thy servant: I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast broken my bonds: ¹⁷ I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord. ¹⁸ I will pay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people:

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn and am determined to keep the judgments of thy justice.

¹⁰ He shall not delight in the strength of the horse: nor take pleasure in the legs of a man. ¹¹ The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him: and in them that hope in his mercy.

²¹ And the Lord shall be known by Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall worship him with sacrifices and offerings: and they shall make vows to the Lord, and perform them.

^{9 (2:10)} But I with the voice of praise will sacrifice to thee: I will pay whatsoever I have vowed for my salvation to the Lord.

¹⁰ Who is there among you, that will shut the doors, and will kindle the fire on my altar gratis? I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will not receive a gift of your hand.

³³ Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord.
