²² Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not serving to the eye, as pleasing men: but in simplicity of heart, fearing God.

¹⁸ And the third day he brought them out of prison, and said: Do as I have said, and you shall live: for I fear God.

⁹ And I said to them: The thing you do is not good: why walk you not in the fear of our God, that we be not exposed to the reproaches of the Gentiles our enemies?

¹⁵ But the former governors that had been before me, were chargeable to the people, and took of them in bread, and wine, and in money every day forty sicles: and their officers also oppressed the people. But I did not so for the fear of God.

² Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.

¹² But though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and by patience be borne withal, I know from thence that it shall be well with them that fear God, who dread his face.

¹³ Let us all hear together the conclusion of the discourse. Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is all man:

⁶ The son honoureth the father, and the servant his master: if then I be a father, where is my honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear: saith the Lord of hosts.

²² The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome.

⁹ For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers; and I say to this, Go, and he goeth, and to another Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

⁴⁶ And why call you me, Lord, Lord; and do not the things which I say?

⁸ For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers: and I say to one, Go, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doth it.

⁴⁶ And continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart:

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your lords according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the simplicity of your heart, as to Christ. ⁶ Not serving to the eye, as it were pleasing men: but, as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. ⁷ With a good will serving, as to the Lord, and not to men.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

⁴ But as we were approved by God that the gospel should be committed to us: even so we speak, not as pleasing men but God, who proveth our hearts.

¹ Whosoever are servants under the yoke, let them count their masters worthy of all honour; lest the name of the Lord and his doctrine be blasphemed. ² But they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them the rather, because they are faithful and beloved, who are partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

⁹ Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters: in all things pleasing, not gainsaying: ¹⁰ Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

¹⁶ Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me. But how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord?

¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle but also to the froward. ¹⁹ For this is thankworthy: if, for conscience towards God, a man endure sorrows, suffering wrongfully.
