²² For Moses said: A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you.

¹⁵ The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a PROPHET of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear: ¹⁶ As thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and saidst: Let me not hear any more the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see any more this exceeding great fire, lest I die. ¹⁷ And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well. ¹⁸ I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger.

³ Incline your ear and come to me: hear and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies of David. ⁴ Behold I have given him for a witness to the people, for a leader and a master to the Gentiles.

⁴ And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. ⁵ And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

^{4 (9:3)} And there appeared to them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. ^{5 (9:4)} And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. And let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. ^{6 (9:5)} For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear. ^{7 (9:6)} And there was a cloud overshadowing them. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved Son. Hear ye him.

³⁰ And behold two men were talking with him. And they were Moses and Elias, ³¹ Appearing in majesty. And they spoke of his decease that he should accomplish in Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep. And waking, they saw his glory and the two men that stood with him. ³³ And it came to pass that, as they were departing from him, Peter saith to Jesus: Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses; and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. ³⁴ And as he spoke these things, there came a cloud and overshadowed them. And they were afraid when they entered into the cloud. ³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud; saying: This is my beloved son. Hear him.

³³ Nevertheless, I must walk to-day and to-morrow and the day following, because it cannot be that a prophet perish, out of Jerusalem.

¹⁹ To whom he said: What things? And they said: Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, mighty in work and word before God and all the people.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

²⁴ Amen, amen, I say unto you that he who heareth my word and believeth him that sent me hath life everlasting: and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life.

³⁹ Search the scriptures: for you think in them to have life everlasting. And the same are they that give testimony of me. ⁴⁰ And you will not come to me that you may have life. ⁴¹ I receive not glory from men. ⁴² But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you. ⁴³ I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. ⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive glory one from another: and the glory which is from God alone, you do not seek? ⁴⁵ Think not that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust. ⁴⁶ For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also: for he wrote of me. ⁴⁷ But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?

¹² Again therefore, Jesus spoke to: them, saying: I am the light of the world. He that followeth me walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

⁴⁶ I am come, a light into the world, that whosoever believeth in me may not remain in darkness.

³⁷ This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel: A prophet shall God raise up to you of your own brethren, as myself. Him shall you hear.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh.

⁵ Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law:

¹ God, who, at sundry times and in divers manners, spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, last of all, ² In these days, hath spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world.

¹ Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard lest perhaps we should let them slip.

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour: that, through the grace of God he might taste death for all. ¹⁰ For it became him for whom are all things and by whom are all things, who had brought many children into glory, to perfect the author of their salvation, by his passion. ¹¹ For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one. For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: ¹² I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the church will I praise thee. ¹³ And again: I will put my trust in him. And again: Behold I and my children, whom God hath given me. ¹⁴ Therefore because the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner hath been partaker of the same: that, through death, he might destroy him who had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil: ¹⁵ And might deliver them, who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to servitude. ¹⁶ For nowhere doth he take hold of the angels: but of the seed of Abraham he taketh hold. ¹⁷ Wherefore, it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest before God, that he might be a propitiation for the sins of the people.

⁹ And being consummated, he became, to all that obey him, the cause of eternal salvation:

¹ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to make known to his servants the things which must shortly come to pass: and signified, sending by his angel to his servant John,
