¹⁷ Let his name be blessed for evermore: his name continueth before the sun. And in him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed: all nations shall magnify him. ¹⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone doth wonderful things. ¹⁹ And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever: and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. So be it.

¹ A psalm for David himself. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. His right hand hath wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy. ² The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles. ³ He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

¹⁰ And as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return no more thither, but soak the earth, and water it, and make it to spring, and give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: ¹¹ So shall my word be, which shall go forth from my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall do whatsoever I please, and shall prosper in the things for which I sent it. ¹² For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall sing praise before you, and all the trees of the country shall clap their hands. ¹³ Instead of the shrub, shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the nettle, shall come up the myrtle tree: and the Lord shall be named for an everlasting sign, that shall not be taken away.

⁹ Shall not I that make others to bring forth children, myself bring forth, saith the Lord? shall I, that give generation to others, be barren, saith the Lord thy God? ¹⁰ Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn for her. ¹¹ That you may suck, and be filled with the breasts of her consolations: that you may milk out, and flow with delights, from the abundance of her glory. ¹² For thus saith the Lord: Behold I will bring upon her as it were a river of peace, and as an overflowing torrent the glory of the Gentiles, which you shall suck; you shall be carried at the breasts, and upon the knees they shall caress you. ¹³ As one whom the mother caresseth, so will I comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ You shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb, and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall be angry with his enemies.

³¹ Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field. ³² Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come, and dwell in the branches thereof. ³³ Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.

¹ And when great multitudes stood about him, so that they trod one upon another, he began to say to his disciples: Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

³ And he spoke to them this parable, saying: ⁴ What man of you that hath an hundred sheep, and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after that which was lost, until he find it? ⁵ And when he hath found it, lay it upon his shoulders, rejoicing? ⁶ And coming home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost? ⁷ I say to you that even so there shall be joy in heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need not penance. ⁸ Or what woman having ten groats, if she lose one groat, doth not light a candle and sweep the house and seek diligently until she find it? ⁹ And when she hath found it, call together her friends and neighbours, saying: Rejoice with me, because I have found the groat which I had lost. ¹⁰ So I say to you, there shall be joy before the angels of God upon one sinner doing penance.

³² But it was fit that we should make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead and is come to life again; he was lost, and is found.

²⁴ Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,

⁴¹ They therefore that received his word were baptized: and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.

⁴ But many of them who had heard the word believed: and the number of the men was made five thousand.

²¹ But they, threatening, sent them away, not finding how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified what had been done, in that which had come to pass.

⁷ And the word of the Lord increased: and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly. A great multitude also of the priests obeyed the faith.

¹⁸ Having heard these things, they held their peace and glorified God, saying: God then hath also to the Gentiles given repentance, unto life.

¹ And some, coming down from Judea, taught the brethren: That, except you be circumcised after the manner of Moses, you cannot be saved.

⁵ But there arose of the sect of the Pharisees some that believed, saying: They must be circumcised and be commanded to observe the law of Moses.

²⁴ Forasmuch as we have heard that some going out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, to whom we gave no commandment:

³ And he saith: I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the truth of the law of the fathers, zealous for the law, as also all you are this day:

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

⁶ That with one mind and with one mouth you may glorify God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁷ Wherefore, receive one another, as Christ also hath received you, unto the honour of God.

⁹ But that the Gentiles are to glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: Therefore will I confess to thee, O Lord, among the Gentiles and will sing to thy name. ¹⁰ And again he saith: rejoice ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again: praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles: and magnify him, all ye people. ¹² And again, Isaias saith: There shall be a root of Jesse; and he that shall rise up to rule the Gentiles, in him the Gentiles shall hope. ¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing: that you may abound in hope and in the power of the Holy Ghost.

¹⁴ And I made progress in the Jew's religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

²⁴ And they glorified God in me.

¹⁰ When he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be made wonderful in all them who have believed; because our testimony was believed upon you in that day.

⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of great thunders, saying: Alleluia: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, hath reigned. ⁷ Let us be glad and rejoice and give glory to him. For the marriage of the Lamb is come: and his wife hath prepared herself.
