²⁵ And at midnight, Paul and Silas, praying, praised God. And they that were in prison heard them.

¹² But many of the priests and the Levites, and the chief of the fathers and the ancients that had seen the former temple; when they had the foundation of this temple before their eyes, wept with a loud voice: and many shouting for joy, lifted up their voice. ¹³ So that one could not distinguish the voice of the shout of joy, from the noise of the weeping of the people: for one with another the people shouted with a loud shout, and the voice was heard afar off.

¹⁰ And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night?

¹⁵ He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.

⁶² I rose at midnight to give praise to thee; for the judgments of thy justification.

²⁹ You shall have a song as in the night of the sanctified solemnity, and joy of heart, as where one goeth with a pipe, to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the Mighty One of Israel.

⁸ Hear, O Jesus thou high priest, thou and thy friends that dwell before thee, for they are portending men: for behold, I WILL BRING MY SERVANT THE ORIENT.

¹⁰ Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:

³⁸ Then he saith to them: My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here and watch with me. ³⁹ And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will but as thou wilt.

²² Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. ²³ Be glad in that day and rejoice: for behold, your reward is great in heaven, For according to these things did their fathers to the prophets.

⁴⁴ And his sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.

⁴¹ And they indeed went from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were accounted worthy to suffer reproach for the name of Jesus.

³ And not only so: but we glory also in tribulation, knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

¹² Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer.

⁸ In all things we suffer tribulation: but are not distressed. We are straitened: but are not destitute. ⁹ We suffer persecution: but are not forsaken. We are cast down: but we perish not.

¹⁶ For which cause we faint not: but though our outward man is corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For that which is at present momentary and light of our tribulation worketh for us above measure, exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.

¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing: as needy, yet enriching many: as having nothing and possessing all things.

¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord:

¹⁷ Yea, and if I be made a victim upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and congratulate with you all.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again, I say, rejoice. ⁵ Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. ⁶ Be nothing solicitous: but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

²⁴ Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church:

¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly: in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

¹⁶ Always rejoice. ¹⁷ Pray without ceasing. ¹⁸ In all things give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offering up prayers and supplications to him that was able to save him from death, was heard for his reverence.

² My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations:

¹³ Is any of you sad? Let him pray: Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing.

⁶ Wherein you shalt greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations: ⁷ That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ. ⁸ Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now though you see him not, you believe and, believing, shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;

¹⁴ If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory and power of God, and that which is his Spirit resteth upon you.
