3 John 1 Cross References - DouayRheims

1 The Ancient, to the dearly beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2 Dearly beloved, concerning all things I make it my prayer that thou mayest proceed prosperously and fare well, as thy soul doth prosperously. 3 I was exceedingly glad when the brethren came and gave testimony to the truth in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Dearly beloved, thou dost faithfully whatever thou dost for the brethren: and that for strangers, 6 Who have given testimony to thy charity in the sight of the church. Whom thou shalt do well to bring forward on their way in a manner worthy of God: 7 Because, for his name they went out, taking nothing of the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such: that we may be fellow helpers of the truth. 9 I had written perhaps to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, doth not receive us. 10 For this cause, if I come, I will advertise his works which he doth, with malicious words prating against us. And as if these things were not enough for him, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that do receive them he forbiddeth, and casteth out of the church. 11 Dearly beloved, follow not that which is evil: but that which is good. He that doth good is of God: he that doth evil hath not seen God. 12 To Demetrius, testimony is given by all, and by the truth itself: yea and we also give testimony. And thou knowest that our testimony is true. 13 I had many things to write unto thee: but I would not by ink and pen write to thee. 14 But I hope speedily to see thee: and we will speak mouth to mouth. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Salute the friends by name.

20 But Giezi, the servant of the man of God, said: My master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving of him that which he brought: as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take something of him. 21 And Giezi followed after Naaman: and when he saw him running after him, he leapt down from his chariot to meet him, and said: Is all well? 22 And he said: Well: my master hath sent me to thee, saying: Just now there are come to me from mount Ephraim, two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. 23 And Naaman said: It is better that thou take two talents. And he forced him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, and two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants, and they carried them before him. 24 And when he was come, and now it was the evening, he took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and sent the men away, and they departed. 25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Eliseus said: Whence comest thou, Giezi? He answered: Thy servant went no whither. 26 But he said: Was not my heart present, when the man turned back, from his chariot, to meet thee? So now thou hast received money, and received garments, to buy oliveyards and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and men-servants, and maid-servants. 27 But the leprosy of Naaman, shall also stick to thee, and to thy seed for ever. And he went out from him a leper, as white as snow.

She saith to him: say that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom. 22 And Jesus answering, said: You know not what you ask. Can you drink the chalice that I shall drink? They say to him: We can. 23 He saith to them: My chalice indeed you shall drink; but to sit on my right or left hand is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared by my Father. 24 And the ten, hearing it, were moved with indignation against the two brethren. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said: You know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them; and that they that are the greater, exercise power upon them. 26 It shall not be so among you: but whosoever is the greater among you, let him be your minister. 27 And he that will be first among you shall be your servant. 28 Even as the Son of man is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a redemption for many.

For one is your master: and all you are brethren.

Can you drink of the chalice that I drink of or be baptized with the baptism wherewith I am baptized? 39 But they said to him: We can. And Jesus saith to them: You shall indeed drink of the chalice that I drink of; and with the baptism wherewith I am baptized you shall be baptized. 40 But to sit on my right hand or on my left is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared. 41 And the ten, hearing it, began to be much displeased at James and John. 42 But Jesus calling them, saith to them: You know that they who seem to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them: and their princes have power over them. 43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever will be greater shall be your minister. 44 And whosoever will be first among you shall be the servant of all. 45 For the Son of man also is not come to be ministered unto: but to minister and to give his life a redemption for many.

Is not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth.

And every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labour. 9 For we are God's coadjutors. You are God's husbandry: you are God's building.

1 Corinthians 4:14-15

14 I write not these things to confound you: but I admonish you as my dearest children. 15 For if you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, by the gospel, I have begotten you. 16 Wherefore, I beseech you, be ye followers of me as I also am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5

1 It is absolutely heard that there is fornication among you and such fornication as the like is not among the heathens: that one should have his father's wife. 2 And you are puffed up and have not rather mourned: that he might be taken away from among you that hath done this thing. 3 I indeed, absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged, as though I were present, him that hath so done, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus: 5 To deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:12-15

12 If others be partakers of this power over you, why not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power: but we bear all things, lest we should give any hindrance to the gospel of Christ. 13 Know you not that they who work in the holy place eat the things that are of the holy place; and they that serve the altar partake with the altar? 14 So also the Lord ordained that they who preach the gospel should live by the gospel. 15 But I have used none of these things. Neither have I written these things, that they should be so done unto me: for it is good for me to die rather than that any man should make my glory void.

23 Either for Titus, who is my companion and fellow labourer towards you, or our brethren, the apostles of the churches, the glory of Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:1-11

1 Now I Paul, myself beseech you, by the mildness and modesty of Christ: who in presence indeed am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence wherewith I am thought to be bold, against some who reckon us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty to God, unto the pulling down of fortifications, destroying counsels, 5 And every height that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God: and bringing into captivity every understanding unto the obedience of Christ: 6 And having in readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be fulfilled. 7 See the things that are according to outward appearance. If any man trust to himself, that he is Christ's let him think this again with himself, that as he is Christ's, so are we also. 8 For if also I should boast somewhat more of our power, which the Lord hath given us unto edification and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed. 9 But that I may not be thought as it were to terrify you by epistles, 10 (For his epistles indeed, say they, are weighty and strong; but his bodily presence is weak and his speech contemptible): 11 Let such a one think this, that such as we are in word by epistles when absent, such also we will be indeed when present.

2 Corinthians 11:7-9

7 Or did I commit a fault, humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached unto you the Gospel of God freely? 8 I have taken from other churches, receiving wages of them for your ministry. 9 And, when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was wanting to me, the brethren supplied who came from Macedonia. And in all things I have kept myself from being burthensome to you: and so I will keep myself.

2 Corinthians 12:13

13 For what is there that you have had less than the other churches but that I myself was not burthensome to you? Pardon me this injury.

14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly unto the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all: If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of the Gentiles and not as the Jews do, how dost thou compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

3 Being mindful of the work of your faith and labour and charity: and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father. 4 Knowing, brethren, beloved of God, your election: 5 For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also: and in the Holy Ghost and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes. 6 And you became followers of us and of the Lord: receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

1 Thessalonians 1:6

6 And you became followers of us and of the Lord: receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost: 7 So that you were made a pattern to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia. 8 For from you was spread abroad the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and in Achaia but also in every place: your faith which is towards God, is gone forth, so that we need not to speak any thing. 9 For they themselves relate of us, what manner of entering in we had unto you: and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God. 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead), Jesus, who hath delivered us from the wrath to come.

1 Thessalonians 2:12

12 We testified to every one of you that you would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 13 Therefore, we also give thanks to God without ceasing: because, that when you had received of us the word of the hearing of God, you received it not as the word of men, but (as it is indeed) the word of God, who worketh in you that have believed. 14 For you, brethren, are become followers of the churches of God which are in Judea, in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they have from the Jews:

1 Thessalonians 2:14

14 For you, brethren, are become followers of the churches of God which are in Judea, in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they have from the Jews:

1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

19 For what is our hope or joy or crown of glory? Are not you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy.

1 Thessalonians 3:2

2 And we sent Timothy, our brother and the minister of God in the gospel of Christ, to confirm you and exhort you concerning your faith:

1 Thessalonians 3:6-9

6 But now when Timothy came to us from you and related to us your faith and charity, and that you have a good remembrance of us always, desiring to see us as we also to see you: 7 Therefore we were comforted, brethren, in you, in all our necessity and tribulation, by your faith. 8 Because now we live, if you stand in the Lord. 9 For what thanks can we return to God for you, in all the joy wherewith we rejoice for you before our God,

1 Thessalonians 4:12

12 (4:11) And that you walk honestly towards them that are without: and that you want nothing of any man's.

2 Thessalonians 1:3

3 We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith groweth exceedingly and the charity of every one of you towards each other aboundeth.

2 Thessalonians 2:13

13 (2:12) But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit and faith of the truth:

1 Timothy 1:2

2 To Timothy, his beloved son in faith. Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Timothy 3:7

7 Moreover, he must have a good testimony of them who are without: lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

2 Timothy 1:2

2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son. Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Timothy 3:10

10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

Titus 1:7-16

7 For a bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God: not proud, not subject to anger, nor given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre: 8 But given to hospitality, gentle, sober, just, holy, continent: 9 Embracing that faithful word which is according to doctrine, that he may be able to exhort in sound doctrine and to convince the gainsayers. 10 For there are also many disobedient, vain talkers and seducers: especially they who are of the circumcision. 11 Who must be reproved, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. 12 One of them a prophet of their own, said: The Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, slothful bellies. 13 This testimony is true. Wherefore, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith: 14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn themselves away from the truth. 15 All things are clean to the clean: but to them that are defiled and to unbelievers, nothing is clean: but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him: being abominable and incredulous and to every good work reprobate.

Titus 3:13

13 Send forward Zenas the lawyer and Apollo, with care that nothing be wanting to them.

Philemon 1:2

2 And to Appia, our dearest sister, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church which is in thy house.

Philemon 1:5-7

5 Hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus and towards all the saints: 6 That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work that is in you in Christ Jesus. 7 For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.

Philemon 1:10

10 I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,

Philemon 1:24

24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow labourers.

Hebrews 6:12

12 That you become not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience shall inherit the promises.

James 5:12

12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your speech be: Yea, Yea: No, No: that you fall not under judgment.

1 Peter 2:20

20 For what glory is it, if, committing sin and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently: this is thankworthy before God.

1 Peter 3:11

11 Let him decline from evil and do good: Let him seek after peace and pursue it:

1 Peter 3:13

13 And who is he that can hurt you, if you be zealous of good?

1 Peter 4:8

8 But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity covereth a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:10-11

10 As every man hath received grace, ministering the same one to another: as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak, as the words of God. If any minister, let him do it, as of the power which God administereth: that in all things God may be honoured through Jesus Christ: to whom is glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:14

14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

2 Peter 1:3-9

3 As all things of his divine power which appertain to life and godliness are given us through the knowledge of him who hath called us by his own proper glory and virtue. 4 By whom he hath given us most great and precious promises: that by these you may be made partakers of the divine nature: flying the corruption of that concupiscence which is in the world. 5 And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue: And in virtue, knowledge: 6 And in knowledge, abstinence: and in abstinence, patience: and in patience, godliness: 7 And in godliness, love of brotherhood: and in love of brotherhood, charity. 8 For if these things be with you and abound, they will make you to be neither empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he that hath not these things with him is blind and groping, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

2 Peter 3:18

18 But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity, Amen.

1 John 2:29

29 If you know that he is just, know ye, that every one also who doth justice is born of him.

1 John 3:6-9

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: and whosoever sinneth hath not seen him nor known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doth justice is just, even as he is just. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him. And he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:18

18 My little children, let us not love in word nor in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

2 John 1:1-13

1 The Ancient to the lady Elect and her children, whom I love in the truth: and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth, 2 For the sake of the truth which dwelleth in us and shall be with us for ever.

2 John 1:2

2 For the sake of the truth which dwelleth in us and shall be with us for ever. 3 Grace be with you, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus the Son of the Father: in truth and charity. 4 I was exceeding glad that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

2 John 1:4

4 I was exceeding glad that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as writing a new commandment to thee, but that which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is charity: That we walk according to his commandments. For this is the commandment that, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in the same: 7 For many seducers are gone out into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a seducer and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that you lose not the things which you have wrought: but that you may receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever revolteth and continueth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God. He that continueth in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house nor say to him: God speed you. 11 For he that saith unto him: God speed you, communicateth with his wicked works. 12 Having more things to write unto you, I would not by paper and ink: for I hope that I shall be with you and speak face to face, that your joy may be full.

2 John 1:12

12 Having more things to write unto you, I would not by paper and ink: for I hope that I shall be with you and speak face to face, that your joy may be full. 13 The children of thy sister Elect salute thee.

3 John 1:3-6

3 I was exceedingly glad when the brethren came and gave testimony to the truth in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth.

3 John 1:4

4 I have no greater grace than this, to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Dearly beloved, thou dost faithfully whatever thou dost for the brethren: and that for strangers,

3 John 1:5

5 Dearly beloved, thou dost faithfully whatever thou dost for the brethren: and that for strangers, 6 Who have given testimony to thy charity in the sight of the church. Whom thou shalt do well to bring forward on their way in a manner worthy of God:

3 John 1:8

8 We therefore ought to receive such: that we may be fellow helpers of the truth.

3 John 1:10

10 For this cause, if I come, I will advertise his works which he doth, with malicious words prating against us. And as if these things were not enough for him, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that do receive them he forbiddeth, and casteth out of the church.

3 John 1:12

12 To Demetrius, testimony is given by all, and by the truth itself: yea and we also give testimony. And thou knowest that our testimony is true.
