²² But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity and peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁷ I know my God that thou provest hearts, and lovest simplicity, wherefore I also in the simplicity of my heart, have joyfully offered all these things: and I have seen with great joy thy people, which are here present, offer thee their offerings. ¹⁸ O Lord God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Israel our fathers, keep for ever this will of their heart, and let this mind remain always for the worship of thee.

¹ The prayer of David. Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear unto my prayer, which proceedeth not from deceitful lips.

¹⁸ If I have looked at iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. ¹⁹ Therefore hath God heard me, and hath attended to the voice of my supplication.

⁹ By what doth a young man correct his way? by observing thy words.

⁵ Deliver thyself as a doe from the hand, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁸ The victims of the wicked are abominable to the Lord: the vows of the just are acceptable.

⁹ Rejoice therefore, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart be in that which is good in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thy eyes: and know that for all these God will bring thee into judgment. ¹⁰ Remove anger from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh. For youth and pleasure are vain.

¹⁴ And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.

⁸ I will therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger and contention.

¹² Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the faithful, in word, in conversation, in charity, in faith, in chastity.

¹¹ But thou, O man of God, fly these things: and pursue justice, godliness, faith, charity, patience, mildness.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men and holiness: without which no man shall see God.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech you, as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul,

¹¹ Let him decline from evil and do good: Let him seek after peace and pursue it:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, follow not that which is evil: but that which is good. He that doth good is of God: he that doth evil hath not seen God.
