¹² And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of the bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

⁴ And immediately the word of the Lord came to him, saying : He shall not be thy heir: but he that shall come out of thy bowels, him shalt thou have for thy heir.

¹¹ The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne. ¹² If thy children will keep my covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.

⁷ His empire shall be multiplied, and there shall be no end of peace: he shall sit upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom; to establish it and strengthen it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth and for ever: the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the root of Jesse, and a flower shall rise up out of his root. ² And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the spirit of wisdom, and of understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge, and of godliness. ³ And he shall be filled with the spirit of the fear of the Lord, He shall not judge according to the sight of the eyes, nor reprove according to the hearing of the ears.

¹⁰ In that day the root of Jesse, who standeth for an ensign of the people, him the Gentiles shall beseech, and his sepulchre shall be glorious.

² And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth, shall awake: some unto life everlasting, and others unto reproach, to see it always.

⁴² Saying: What think you of Christ? Whose son is he? They say to him: David's. ⁴³ He saith to them: How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying: ⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord: Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool?

³⁰ Whereas therefore he was a prophet and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne.

³⁶ For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers and saw corruption.

⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall all indeed rise again: but we shall not all be changed.

^{14 (4:13)} For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again: even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him.
