^{27 (17:26)} But that we may not scandalize them, go to the sea, and cast in a hook: and that fish which shall first come up, take: and when thou hast opened it's mouth, thou shalt find a stater: take that, and give it to them for me and thee.

⁶ But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea.

¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more. But judge this rather, that you put not a stumblingblock or a scandal in your brother's way.

⁹ But take heed lest perhaps this your liberty become a stumblingblock to the weak. ¹⁰ For if a man see him that hath knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not his conscience, being weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols? ¹¹ And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ hath died? ¹² Now when you sin thus against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. ¹³ Wherefore, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat flesh, lest I should scandalize my brother.

¹² If others be partakers of this power over you, why not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power: but we bear all things, lest we should give any hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

²² To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak. I became all things to all men, that I might save all.

²³ All things are lawful for me: but all things do not edify. ²⁴ Let no man seek his own, but that which is another's.

³² Be without offence to the Jew, and to the Gentiles and to the church of God: ³³ As I also in all things please all men, not seeking that which is profitable to myself but to many: that they may be saved.

¹² For our glory is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity of heart and sincerity of God, and not in carnal wisdom, but in the grace of God, we have conversed in this world: and more abundantly towards you.

²⁰ Avoiding this, lest any man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us.
