¹² And may the Lord multiply you and make you abound in charity towards one another and towards all men: as we do also towards you,

⁴ The idols of the Gentiles are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men.

¹² All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets.

³⁹ And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord: Increase our faith.

⁸ Owe no man any thing, but to love one another. For he that loveth his neighbour hath fulfilled the law.

¹ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. ⁴ Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up, ⁵ Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: ⁶ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: ⁷ Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. ⁸ Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void or tongues shall cease or knowledge shall be destroyed. ⁹ For we know in part: and we prophesy in part. ¹⁰ But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. ¹² We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known. ¹³ And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

¹⁰ And he that ministereth seed to the sower will both give you bread to eat and will multiply your seed and increase the growth of the fruits of your justice:

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by Charity.

¹³ For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty. Only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh: but by charity of the spirit serve one another. ¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,

⁹ And this I pray: That your charity may more and more abound in knowledge and in all understanding:

⁸ So desirous of you, we would gladly impart unto you not only the gospel of God but also our own souls: because you were become most dear unto us.

¹ For the rest therefore, brethren, pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus that, as you have received from us, how you ought to walk and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more.

⁹ But as touching the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you: for yourselves have learned of God to love one another. ¹⁰ For indeed you do it towards all the brethren in all Macedonia. But we entreat you, brethren, that you abound more:

¹⁵ See that none render evil for evil to any man: but ever follow that which is good towards each other and towards all men.

³ We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith groweth exceedingly and the charity of every one of you towards each other aboundeth.

¹⁷ Every best gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change nor shadow of alteration.

⁷ And in godliness, love of brotherhood: and in love of brotherhood, charity.

¹⁸ But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity, Amen.

¹¹ For this is the declaration which you have heard from the beginning, that you should love one another. ¹² Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one and killed his brother. And wherefore did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked: and his brother's just. ¹³ Wonder not, brethren, if the world hate you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not abideth in death. ¹⁵ Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself. ¹⁶ In this we have known the charity of God, because he hath laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ He that hath the substance of this world and shall see his brother in need and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word nor in tongue, but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ In this we know that we are of the truth and in his sight shall persuade our hearts.

⁷ Dearly beloved, let us love one another: for charity is of God. And every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. ⁸ He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is charity. ⁹ By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him. ¹⁰ In this is charity: not as though we had loved God, but because he hath first loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ My dearest, if God hath so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abideth in us: and his charity is perfected in us. ¹³ In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father hath sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world. ¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and have believed the charity which God hath to us. God is charity: and he that abideth in charity abideth in God, and God in him.
