⁷ But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore and watch in prayers.

^{2 (7:3)} It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to the house of feasting: for in that we are put in mind of the end of all, and the living thinketh what is to come.

³¹ The prophets prophesied falsehood, and the priests clapped their hands: and my people loved such things: what then shall be done in the end thereof?

² And thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God to the land of Israel: The end is come, the end is come upon the four quarters of the land. ³ Now is an end come upon thee, and I will send my wrath upon thee, and I will judge thee according to thy ways: and I will set all thy abominations against thee.

⁶ An end is come, the end is come, it hath awaked against thee: behold it is come.

¹³ But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations: and then shall the consummation come.

⁴² Watch ye therefore, because you know not what hour your Lord will come.

¹³ Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour.

³⁸ Then he saith to them: My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here and watch with me. ³⁹ And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will but as thou wilt. ⁴⁰ And he cometh to his disciples and findeth them asleep. And he saith to Peter: What? Could you not watch one hour with me? ⁴¹ Watch ye: and pray that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take ye heed, watch and pray. For ye know not when the time is. ³⁴ Even as a man who, going into a far country, left his house and gave authority to his servants over every work and commanded the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch ye therefore (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning): ³⁶ Lest coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch.

³⁷ And he cometh and findeth them sleeping. And he saith to Peter: Simon, sleepest thou? Couldst thou not watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch ye: and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest perhaps your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and the cares of this life: and that day come upon you suddenly.

³⁶ Watch ye, therefore, praying at all times, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are to come and to stand before the Son of man.

⁴⁶ And he said to them: Why sleep you? Arise: pray: lest you enter into temptation.

¹² Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer.

¹¹ And that, knowing the season, that it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep. For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is passed And the day is at hand. Let us, therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light.

²⁹ This therefore I say, brethren: The time is short. It remaineth, that they also who have wives be as if they had none:

²⁴ Afterwards the end: when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God and the Father: when he shall have brought to nought all principality and power and virtue.

¹⁸ By all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the spirit: and in the same watching with all instance and supplication for all the saints:

⁵ Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh.

² Be instant in prayer: watching in it with thanksgiving.

⁶ Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do: but let us watch, and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breast plate of faith and charity and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁵ But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.

¹² Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly and justly and godly in this world,

²⁵ Not forsaking our assembly, as some are accustomed: but comforting one anther, and so much the more as you see the day approaching.

⁸ Be you therefore also patient and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand. ⁹ Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.

¹³ Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁷ Ye husbands, likewise dwelling with them according to knowledge, giving honour to the female as to the weaker vessel and as to the co-heirs of the grace of life: that your prayers be not hindered.

⁸ Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.

⁹ The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance, ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence and the elements shall be melted with heat and the earth and the works which are in it shall be burnt up. ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things are to be dissolved, what manner of people ought you to be in holy conversation and godliness?

¹⁸ Little children, it is the last hour: and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour. ¹⁹ They went out from us but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us: but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us.

¹⁵ Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
