¹² Dearly beloved, think not strange the burning heat which is to try you: as if some new thing happened to you.

²¹ For the Lord shall stand up as in the mountain of divisions: he shall be angry as in the valley which is in Gabaon: that he may do his work, his strange work: that he may perform his work, his work is strange to him.

³⁵ And some of thelearned shall fall, that they may be tried, and may be chosen, and made white, even to the appointed time: because yet there shall be another time.

¹³ Every man's work shall be manifest. For the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire. And the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is.

¹³ Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.

² And we sent Timothy, our brother and the minister of God in the gospel of Christ, to confirm you and exhort you concerning your faith: ³ That no man should be moved in these tribulations: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. ⁴ For even when we were with you, we foretold you that we should suffer tribulations: as also it is come to pass, and you know.

¹² And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

⁶ Wherein you shalt greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations: ⁷ That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

⁴ Wherein they think it strange that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness: speaking evil of you.

⁹ Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your brethren who are in the world.
