²³ And not only [that], but even *we* ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, we also ourselves groan in ourselves, awaiting adoption, [that is] the redemption of our body.

³⁶ for neither can they die any more, for they are equal to angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

²⁸ But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws nigh.

⁵ and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by [the] Holy Spirit which has been given to us:

²⁴ O wretched man that I [am]! who shall deliver me out of this body of death?

¹⁵ For ye have not received a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God.

¹⁹ For the anxious looking out of the creature expects the revelation of the sons of God:

²⁵ But if what we see not we hope, we expect in patience. ²⁶ And in like manner the Spirit joins also its help to our weakness; for we do not know what we should pray for as is fitting, but the Spirit itself makes intercession with groanings which cannot be uttered.

² For indeed in this we groan, ardently desiring to have put on our house which [is] from heaven; ³ if indeed being also clothed we shall not be found naked. ⁴ For indeed we who are in the tabernacle groan, being burdened; while yet we do not wish to be unclothed, but clothed, that [what is] mortal may be swallowed up by life. ⁵ Now he that has wrought us for this very thing [is] God, who also has given to us the earnest of the Spirit.

⁵ For indeed, when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but [we were] afflicted in every way; without combats, within fears.

⁵ For we, by [the] Spirit, on the principle of faith, await the hope of righteousness.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, ²³ meekness, self-control: against such things there is no law.

¹⁴ who is [the] earnest of our inheritance to the redemption of the acquired possession to [the] praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which ye have been sealed for [the] day of redemption.

⁹ (for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth,)

²¹ For for me to live [is] Christ, and to die gain; ²² but if to live in flesh [is my lot], this is for me worth the while: and what I shall choose I cannot tell. ²³ But I am pressed by both, having the desire for departure and being with Christ, [for] [it is] very much better,

²⁰ for *our* commonwealth has its existence in [the] heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ [as] Saviour, ²¹ who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of [the] power which he has even to subdue all things to himself.

⁸ Henceforth the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will render to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all who love his appearing.

¹³ awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

²⁸ thus the Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear to those that look for him the second time without sin for salvation.

⁷ that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:

² Beloved, now are we children of God, and what we shall be has not yet been manifested; we know that if it is manifested we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
