⁷ What shall we say then? [is] the law sin? Far be the thought. But I had not known sin, unless by law: for I had not had conscience also of lust unless the law had said, Thou shalt not lust;

⁶ And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a pleasure for the eyes, and the tree was to be desired to give intelligence; and she took of its fruit, and ate, and gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour`s house, thou shalt not desire thy neighbour`s wife, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour`s.

²¹ Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour`s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour`s house, his field, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour`s.

² And it came to pass at evening time that David arose from off his couch, and walked upon the roof of the king`s house; and from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful;

¹ And it came to pass after these things, [that] Naboth the Jizreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jizreel, by the side of the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. ² And Ahab spoke to Naboth saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, for it is near, by the side of my house; and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; if it seem good to thee, I will give thee its value in money. ³ And Naboth said to Ahab, Jehovah forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to thee! ⁴ And Ahab came into his house sullen and vexed because of the word that Naboth the Jizreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and ate no bread.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple; ⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes; ⁹ The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether: ¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward. ¹² Who understandeth [his] errors? Purify me from secret [faults].

⁹⁶ I have seen an end of all perfection: thy commandment is exceeding broad.

² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away; and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

²⁸ But *I* say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take heed and keep yourselves from all covetousness, for [it is] not because a man is in abundance [that] his life is in his possessions.

³³ I have coveted [the] silver or gold or clothing of no one.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commend God`s righteousness, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak according to man.

²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.

¹ What shall we say then that Abraham our father according to flesh has found?

¹⁵ For law works wrath; but where no law is neither [is there] transgression.

¹⁵ What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought.

⁵ For when we were in the flesh the passions of sins, which [were] by the law, wrought in our members to bring forth fruit to death;

⁸ but sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, wrought in me every lust; for without law sin [was] dead.

¹¹ for sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me].

¹³ Did then that which is good become death to me? Far be the thought. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death to me by that which is good; in order that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

⁹ For, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not lust; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

⁵⁶ Now the sting of death [is] sin, and the power of sin the law;

³ But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;

⁵ Put to death therefore your members which [are] upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.

⁵ (not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)

¹⁵ Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him; ¹⁶ because all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
