²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.

¹⁵ Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones, and the heavens are not pure in his sight:

⁴ And how should man be just with ?God? Or how should he be clean that is born of a woman? ⁵ Lo, even the moon is not bright; and the stars are not pure in his sight:

³ If thou, Jah, shouldest mark iniquities, Lord, who shall stand?

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.

³⁹ and from all things from which ye could not be justified in the law of Moses, in him every one that believes is justified.

¹³ (for not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

²⁸ for we reckon that a man is justified by faith, without works of law.

¹³ For [it was] not by law that the promise was to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of [the] world, but by righteousness of faith.

¹⁵ For law works wrath; but where no law is neither [is there] transgression.

¹³ (for until law sin was in [the] world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law;

²⁰ But law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,

⁷ What shall we say then? [is] the law sin? Far be the thought. But I had not known sin, unless by law: for I had not had conscience also of lust unless the law had said, Thou shalt not lust; ⁸ but sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, wrought in me every lust; for without law sin [was] dead. ⁹ But *I* was alive without law once; but the commandment having come, sin revived, but *I* died.

³² Wherefore? Because [it was] not on the principle of faith, but as of works. They have stumbled at the stumblingstone,

¹⁶ but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law [nor] but by the faith of Jesus Christ, *we* also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of [the] faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified.

¹⁹ For *I*, through law, have died to law, that I may live to God.

¹⁰ For as many as are on the principle of works of law are under curse. For it is written, Cursed is every one who does not continue in all things which [are] written in the book of the law to do them; ¹¹ but that by law no one is justified with God [is] evident, because The just shall live on the principle of faith; ¹² but the law is not on the principle of faith; but, He that shall have done these things shall live by them. ¹³ Christ has redeemed us out of the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, (for it is written, Cursed [is] every one hanged upon a tree,)

⁴ Ye are deprived of all profit from the Christ as separated [from him], as many as are justified by law; ye have fallen from grace.

⁸ For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God`s gift: ⁹ not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.

⁵ not on the principle of works which [have been done] in righteousness which *we* had done, but according to his own mercy he saved us through [the] washing of regeneration and renewal of [the] Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; ⁷ that, having been justified by *his* grace, we should become heirs according to [the] hope of eternal life.

⁹ But if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever shall keep the whole law and shall offend in one [point], he has come under the guilt of [breaking] all.

²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and that by works faith was perfected. ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness, and he was called Friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see that a man is justified on the principle of works, and not on the principle of faith only. ²⁵ But was not in like manner also Rahab the harlot justified on the principle of works, when she had received the messengers and put [them] forth by another way? ²⁶ For as the body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
