¹⁷ Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.

⁶ Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire: ears hast thou prepared me. Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded; ⁷ Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me -- ⁸ To do thy good pleasure, my God, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart.

²¹ Jehovah had delight [in him] for his righteousness` sake: he hath magnified the law, and made it honourable.

¹⁵ But Jesus answering said to him, Suffer [it] now; for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffers him.

¹² Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

¹⁷ But it is easier that the heaven and the earth should pass away than that one tittle of the law should fail.

⁵ Now in the law Moses has commanded us to stone such; thou therefore, what sayest thou?

¹³ And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against the holy place and the law;

¹³ saying, This [man] persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.

²⁸ crying, Israelites, help! this is the man who teaches all everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place, and has brought Greeks too into the temple, and profaned this holy place.

³¹ Do we then make void law by faith? Far be the thought: [no,] but we establish law.

⁴ in order that the righteous requirement of the law should be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to flesh but according to Spirit.

⁴ For Christ is [the] end of law for righteousness to every one that believes.

¹⁷ Now I say this, A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which took place four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance [be] on the principle of law, [it is] no longer on the principle of promise; but God gave it in grace to Abraham by promise. ¹⁹ Why then the law? It was added for the sake of transgressions, until the seed came to whom the promise was made, ordained through angels in [the] hand of a mediator. ²⁰ But a mediator is not of one, but God is one. ²¹ [Is] then the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given able to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law; ²² but the scripture has shut up all things under sin, that the promise, on the principle of faith of Jesus Christ, should be given to those that believe. ²³ But before faith came, we were guarded under law, shut up to faith [which was] about to be revealed. ²⁴ So that the law has been our tutor up to Christ, that we might be justified on the principle of faith.

⁴ but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, come of woman, come under law, ⁵ that he might redeem those under law, that we might receive sonship.

¹⁶ Let none therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in matter of feast, or new moon, or sabbaths, ¹⁷ which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.

³ But in these [there is] a calling to mind of sins yearly. ⁴ For blood of bulls and goats [is] incapable of taking away sins. ⁵ Wherefore coming into the world he says, Sacrifice and offering thou willedst not; but thou hast prepared me a body. ⁶ Thou tookest no pleasure in burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin. ⁷ Then I said, Lo, I come (in [the] roll of the book it is written of me) to do, O God, thy will. ⁸ Above, saying Sacrifices and offerings and burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou willedst not, neither tookest pleasure in (which are offered according to the law); ⁹ then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first that he may establish the second; ¹⁰ by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands daily ministering, and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ¹² But *he*, having offered one sacrifice for sins, sat down in perpetuity at [the] right hand of God,
