⁴² but as they had nothing to pay, he forgave both of them [their debt]: [say,] which of them therefore will love him most?

¹ {Of David. Instruction.} Blessed is he [whose] transgression is forgiven, [whose] sin is covered! ² Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah reckoneth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile! ³ When I kept silence, my bones waxed old, through my groaning all the day long. ⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me; my moisture was turned into the drought of summer. Selah. ⁵ I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity I covered not; I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah, and *thou* forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

⁷ None can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him, ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is costly, and must be given up for ever,)

¹ {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.} Be gracious unto me, O God, according to thy loving-kindness; according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. ³ For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me.

³ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases;

²⁵ -- I, I [am] He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and I will not remember thy sins.

²² I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

³³ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and will write it in their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will pardon their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

¹⁸ Incline thine ear, O my God, and hear; open thine eyes and behold our desolations, and the city that is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee because of our righteousnesses, but because of thy manifold mercies. ¹⁹ Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, hearken and do! defer not, for thine own sake, O my God! for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

¹⁸ Who is a ?God like unto thee, that forgiveth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in loving-kindness. ¹⁹ He will yet again have compassion on us, he will tread under foot our iniquities: and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ Thou wilt perform truth to Jacob, loving-kindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers, from the days of old.

¹² and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,

²⁵ But he not having anything to pay, [his] lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and his children, and everything that he had, and that payment should be made. ²⁶ The bondman therefore falling down did him homage, saying, Lord, have patience with me and I will pay thee all.

³⁴ And his lord being angry delivered him to the tormentors till he paid all that was owing to him.

³⁸ Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, that through this man remission of sins is preached to you, ³⁹ and from all things from which ye could not be justified in the law of Moses, in him every one that believes is justified.

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which [is] in Christ Jesus;

⁵ but to him who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also declares the blessedness of the man to whom God reckons righteousness without works: ⁷ Blessed [they] whose lawlessnesses have been forgiven, and whose sins have been covered: ⁸ blessed [the] man to whom [the] Lord shall not at all reckon sin.

⁶ for we being still without strength, in [the] due time Christ has died for [the] ungodly.

¹⁰ For as many as are on the principle of works of law are under curse. For it is written, Cursed is every one who does not continue in all things which [are] written in the book of the law to do them;

⁷ in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of offences, according to the riches of his grace;

³² and be to one another kind, compassionate, forgiving one another, so as God also in Christ has forgiven you.

¹³ forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any should have a complaint against any; even as the Christ has forgiven you, so also [do] *ye*.
