²⁴ But when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, he said, How difficultly shall those who have riches enter into the kingdom of God;

¹⁰ And it shall be, when Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee: great and good cities which thou buildedst not, ¹¹ and houses full of everything good which thou filledst not, and wells digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt have eaten and shalt be full; ¹² [then] beware lest thou forget Jehovah who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹¹ Beware that thou forget not Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day; ¹² lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built and inhabited fine houses, ¹³ and thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied, ¹⁴ then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; ¹⁵ who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, [a wilderness of] fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there is no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; ¹⁶ who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; ¹⁷ -- and thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has procured me this wealth.

³ For the wicked boasteth of his soul`s desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah.

⁵ They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] men: ⁶ Therefore pride encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violence covereth them [as] a garment; ⁷ Their eyes stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heart: ⁸ They mock and speak wickedly of oppression, they speak loftily: ⁹ They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore his people turn hither, and waters in fulness are wrung out to them. ¹¹ And they say, How can ?God know, and is there knowledge in the Most High? ¹² Behold, these are the wicked, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.

²⁸ He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.

¹¹ The rich man`s wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own imagination.

⁹ lest I be full and deny [thee], and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor and steal, and outrage the name of my God.

³¹ O generation, mark ye the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Wherefore say my people, We have dominion; we will come no more unto thee?

⁵ I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.

²³ And Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, A rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of the heavens; ²⁴ and again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to enter a needle`s eye than a rich man into the kingdom of God. ²⁵ And when the disciples heard [it] they were exceedingly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?

²⁶ And the king, [while] made very sorry, on account of the oaths and those lying at table with [him] would not break his word with her.

²³ And Jesus looking around says to his disciples, How difficultly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁴ And the disciples were amazed at his words. And Jesus again answering says to them, Children, how difficult it is that those who trust in riches should enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁶ And they were exceedingly astonished, saying to one another, And who can be saved? ²⁷ But Jesus looking on them says, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.

²⁶ For consider your calling, brethren, that [there are] not many wise according to flesh, not many powerful, not many high-born. ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may put to shame the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world, that he may put to shame the strong things;

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye have been grieved, but that ye have been grieved to repentance; for ye have been grieved according to God, that in nothing ye might be injured by us. ¹⁰ For grief according to God works repentance to salvation, never to be regretted; but the grief of the world works death.

⁹ But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. ¹⁰ For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

⁵ Hear, my beloved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor as to the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to them that love him? ⁶ But *ye* have despised the poor [man]. Do not the rich oppress you, and [do not] *they* drag you before [the] tribunals? ⁷ And [do not] *they* blaspheme the excellent name which has been called upon you?

¹ Go to now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that [are] coming upon [you]. ² Your wealth is become rotten, and your garments moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is eaten away, and their canker shall be for a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have heaped up treasure in [the] last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of your labourers, who have harvested your fields, wrongfully kept back by you, cry, and the cries of those that have reaped are entered into the ears of [the] Lord of sabaoth. ⁵ Ye have lived luxuriously on the earth and indulged yourselves; ye have nourished your hearts [as] in a day of slaughter; ⁶ ye have condemned, ye have killed the just; he does not resist you.
