⁶ And Jehovah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah ?God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth,

⁵ For a moment [is passed] in his anger, a life in his favour; at even weeping cometh for the night, and at morn there is rejoicing.

⁵ Jehovah, thy loving-kindness is in the heavens, and thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the clouds.

¹ {An instruction. Of Ethan the Ezrahite.} I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness from generation to generation. ² For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.

³³ Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor belie my faithfulness;

⁶ Who made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is therein; who keepeth truth for ever;

² Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be their arm every morning, yea, our salvation in the time of trouble.

⁵ The righteous Jehovah is in the midst of her: he doeth no wrong. Every morning doth he bring his judgment to light; it faileth not: but the unrighteous knoweth no shame.

² in [the] hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time,

¹⁸ that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,

²³ Let us hold fast the confession of the hope unwavering, (for he [is] faithful who has promised;)
